Topic: Where is justice gone?

Hello everybody,

me and my friend .:4.T.R.0.X:. are mapper in Teeworlds.
He made blmap and blmapV2 and I made blmaV3, blmapWO, blmapCC and soon I want to release 3 more maps,
but at the Moment i dont want my hard work to be published cause everyone steals my maps.
They even delete my Copyright and other things.
But the worst thing at all is that they made money out of that, they sell Admin Keys and that shouldn´t be!
Is there a way to stop them?

Thanks in advance, I hope you can help!

Ask a lawyer.

Btw.: No money = no justice...

The Teeworlds map format is free and there is really no way you can - technically - make them closed and impossible to host / edit.
You could try using a licence such as Creative Commons' (http://creativecommons.org/choose/). What do you mean with "making money by selling admin keys"?

Did you speak to that guys? Tell them to stop hosting your maps and if they don't talk to a supporter or something. I allready had similar probs, too.

Re: Where is justice gone?

There is / was a way to make them uneditable by standard clients, but still hostable, also by standard servers and playable by standard clients. I dont know how this worked in detail, but I think they used something that triggered the editor to crash, while it was ignored ingame.

There was once a conversation at teevision.eu and they could give me such a map, that worked but was uneditable (editor crashed).

Re: Where is justice gone?

Hey guys,

would it be an option to insert an image by fotolia bought by us?
And if the map is being hosted by others they get haunted by us big_smile
A Server without that image shows the player that the map was being duplicated.
What do u mean?

Thank you

twserver4you sells for example the rcon of 5 servers for 15 Euro.

How i could make my map impossible to host edit?

there is no "stealing" or anything illegal in hosting someone else's map.

You are wrong. It is illegal to take the work of others and use it yourself if the copyright owner did not give you the permission.
You can download various text-editors for free. But that does not mean that a work written with that free tool have to be free as well. The license of TW is a free one - way more free then GPL (which contains a strong copyleft). But even if you create a image with GIMP it does not mean everybody may use it as he like just because your tool was free. It's the decision of the author.

Cleaned up the topic and closed it to prevent further offtopic discussion.

To sum it up: There is no official method to protect your map against hosting by other people - unofficial methods might work but will be fixed sooner or later.
