Re: Custom Name

Lol, yep, to put special characters in your name use Run>"charmap" to get characters and open C:\Users\[Your Name Here]\AppData\Roaming\Teeworlds\settings.cfg, to find "Name=", etc., just to put it more concisely in understandable English.

Re: Custom Name

I don't wanna open a new topic so I gonna make my question here:
There are people that have nicknames whith different colors.
How can they make that?! yikes

EDIT:
Go directly to the "C:\Users\[Your Name Here]\AppData\Roaming by writing %appdata% in the Windows Menu smile

You need an editor that is able to read and write files in the UTF8 (Unicode) encoding. The crappy standard editors (notepad, wordpad) of windows cant do that!.

Of course they can. Save the documents first in a unicode encoding/charset at it works fantastic.
But other editors may be more comfortable.

Re: Custom Name

Well, my editor (on Windows7 HomePremium x64) seems to be different than yours even i didnt changed anything, at least i cant remember.
If i open my config or different files which also contains unicode-characters i dont have any problems to see them (saved as UTF8 without BOM).

Also something funny to the editor: if you put prime numbers (not binary and each on an own line) beginning from 2 with unix line delimiters encoded as ASCII, the editor thinks that the content is Chinese (or something similar) and shows many Chinese letters.

Here you see, notepad is able to show unicode chars.

Btw. have you talked about unicode characters or just special characters that are part of the ASCII charset? The last one will work...

If i speak about unicode i mean Unicode and not ASCII.

Maybe the standard editors also understand UTF-8 in some particular cases, but if it doesnt, you cant simply change the charset like in other editors.

Well, you can but maybe not as comfortable than in other. You can change it in the save dialog. http://www.abload.de/img/notepadsaveas5jw73.jpg

Re: Custom Name

At least it wasnt UTF8, because UTF8 is completely compatible to ASCII and I was only using ASCII characters, so it must be something different. I  have recreated the file (with primes up to 1000), you can download it here and watch yourself: http://www.file-upload.net/download-416 … s.txt.html

Works fine. No strange letters. But of course they are shown in online line because windows needs a LF and CR for a line break.

But, test this:
Take a clean tw config (without any unicode).
Try to add this character to your name, just by using notepad: ☯
Reopen the file and look if everything work as it should do.

No problem as well. Furthermore, if i type in unicode characters and try to save them in ANSI encoding Windows warns me.
