Topic: Missing Component in Download? (Fixed)

I tried to download TeeWorlds version 6.1 and it said it succesfully downloaded it; I unzipped the folder and tried to play it, but when I did it brought up an error message that said "This application has failed to start because SDL.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem." I tried downloading the game more than three more times after that. I know my computer can play it because I had downloaded and played the same game version before (some one got on my computer and deleted it). I also can't find it anywhere, but that could just be me.
Any help?

Have you downloaded the Official Client or other client like... Gamer or PPRace Client?
Well, try to download here
Thats a installer version

OR
Download SDL.dll from my 4shared account and past the file in your Teew. Folder

What message says it at all?
When does it come?
Gimme a list of files and directorys you have in ya teeworlds folder (teeworlds.exe is located there).
What operating system do you use (any service packs / versions)?
And youre sure you had NOT edited anything in the game?
Don't run it from the zip - Unzip it into an OWN empty folder and run the teeworlds.exe from there.

I guess that was all all you need for problem analysin big_smile^^

Just guessing: maybe you have a corrupted SDL library in your system32 folder. Ensure yourself that the file is ok, or at least try to put the library, if there isn't any, in your C:\Windows\system32 folder

Windows loads DLLs from the current directory first.

It turns out that it WAS an installer problem; there was something wrong with mine. Thank you, HeroiAmarelo, for that helpful download link. smile
This would explain why, even after I unzipped all the folders and files, and even though it was all there, it just wouldn't work.

Also it isnt recommended to use an extern sdl.dll that isnt those of the official package, because this  can result in further problems. Viruses, malware and incompatible or buggy versions, to mention some.

Just so there's no confusion, here's what I did:
1. Downloaded from the TeeWorlds website.
2. Unzipped TeeWorlds.
3. Tried to play, but it wouldn't, so I went back and unzipped all the stuff INSIDE the folder that needed it.
4. Tried to play again, error message came up.
5. Did "steps" 3-4 each time after I downloaded it several more times.
6. Posted this topic and downloaded the installer.
7. Re-installed/unzipped game and played - no problems.

@TeePhoenix: I don't know if that's how your supposed to unzip the folders, but that's what I've always done. All I know is that it worked before, but this time it didn't, and HeroiAmarelo's installer download link worked for me.

Just in case you run in troubles anytime again:
If you get an error, that any file would be missing, just check if you can find this file in your new directory for the unzipped programme.
Then check if you can find this file in the zip-package, and unzip the specific file to the installation-path again.
