Topic: explain the ~20ms latency on LAN server

or server running on localhost

it always take like 14~20ms and i generally cant see any problem with that (except when i was 100ping higher than the others and wanted to reduce that badly)

i just want to know what causes the measurable latency even if it's not netowrked

Re: explain the ~20ms latency on LAN server

You seem to have vsync on, which is nothing bad, it just makes the ping multiple of your screen 'latency'.

If your monitor got 60 Hz, that's one frame every 16,7 ms. As the graphics are running in the same thread as the network, the ping request can only be answered every 16,7 ms, making the response time that high for local servers.

That's "fixed" on github already. Build Teeworlds yourself, if it annoys you.
