Topic: Sparc Binaries

So I have access to a sparc machine at my university and I was curious if the devs might want to provide binaries for that architecture. If so, let me know and I can compile it.

Re: Sparc Binaries

Where did I say I use a sparc system? I only said I have access to one and I offer it because there are still plenty of old Sun servers floating around with people who might want to host a teeworlds server on it. How could it possibly hurt to offer teeworlds compiled for sparc?

Re: Sparc Binaries

I had a Sun server once and I might be able to get it back up to compile a version for you. However, it would probably be easier and faster for both you and me if you compiled the source on your own.

Providing you don't modify the source we'll happily assist you if anything goes wrong.

Did you even read my op? I said in one simple coherent english sentence that I can compile it myself and was curious if the devs were interested in offering teeworlds for sparc.

Re: Sparc Binaries

There really is no reason to. Download the source, compile it and be happy.

The wording in the previous sentence had two implications.

Unless there demand of officially supporting SPARC systems significantly increases, it's nothing we'll prioritize. Most SPARC users probably know how to compile an application, or at least how to follow online documentation. Another reason as to why we're not too keen on providing users with SPARC binaries is the additional testing necessary in advance to each upcoming release.

You may, though, provide binaries, but at the moment they probably won't be added to the download section.

Re: Sparc Binaries

There's been exactly one request for SPARC binaries and that was in 2007. I think that shows about how much demand there is. But as Kottizen said, feel free to compile it for SPARC.

Ok, that's cool. Just thought I'd bring it up just in case. smile
