Hi, made a new map.

I don't like the tunnel one-way principal. In this map, you cannot run by anywhere it's very shutted in. Background is pretty nice though!

Background is nice, but the actual map is really wide! The bottom path seems more like a chore than a leisure to go smile

But the bases are very good, the only thing I see funky is that the bottom path is too long.

@ alias, Those are old screenshots, I'm a bit lazy to update them.
After seeing a 4on4 getting played on the map it was quite obvious that is was too hard to get in the base.
That's why now it is like this :

Today I've played cracks and had 5vs5 on my server (after I've put ctf5 for two rounds in the cycle big_smile). The map is very nice. In terms of gameplay I prefer it over ctf_edge (which is even a good map at all). I'm pretty sure cracks would hold 6vs6 or 7vs7 easy as well. At first I thought the map is even somewhat flat... but gameplay is different and made fun (if you have some serious opponents). It's a little bit like a big ctf1 with 2 paths where it's easy to find or see your opponent but you can just stop him if you are fast enough yourself to catch him or to get the items before he did. But since it's much bigger then ctf1 it's not that crazy compressed pistol orgy. Gameplay is fast and pure. I would not change it at all. You don't have to think where you go and you can't hide - but you can run away pretty well. We had a lot of situation where one wounded tee was running away and followed by more then one from the other team with the flag and even succeeded cause he was a bit faster.


Btw. I'm pretty sure I did not play the version that is on the screenshot above but a version where there was just only one way to the flag (which I prefer).

Srsly? Too less weapons and space, even for 4vs4 (thought it might chance when he would upload the new version with 2 ways into the base).

Not at all Mo2 . Maybe 6v6 for new players that are new to this game , but otherwise no.

[ I still think it's more 3on3 than 4on4 ] , depends on how you like your games.
If you like heavy gameplay with a lot of action you might like to do 4on4 , but I don't think so

I felt somewhat alone with 6 players connected in the old version. Do you guys just guesswork or did you already try with more players? smile - In my opinion there is enough space in the old version cause the most part of the map is like a two way highway. If you are below and the guy with your flag is above then you would see him for sure but you can shoot what you want without success. You have to go upwards first (and if you are not fast enough the guy with your flag is away). There is a good reason to change your way cause of entities. Even if you run out of ammo: CTF is teamplay. So if you die then hopefully someone finish your work. You don't have always unlimited ammo but that's ok. Yes, you have to shoot more often with the pistol. But that's even a valid TW-weapon and not just a gimmick - especially in flat maps like this where it's often more important to get more weapon-range to hit. I had fun playing the old version. It felt good - even if I prefer CTF5 normally.

I'm pretty sure I do not agree with the change and the second way to the flag in that map (even if I prefer normally a second way) - but I would give it try first. The flag run is pretty short now. Isn't it? You skip a lot of the part you have to succeed in the old map.


It's already in the cycle of "Krautsalat - CTF" ... and there's still the old cracks map as cracks_old as vote option.


If you like heavy gameplay

...then choose CTF5 or your favorite mod.  wink - Did you ever see a custom CTF-server where to much players was a problem? Seriously?

Mo2, the map was tested.
I'm sure you're right when you're playing with tees that have an average skill level.

But did you test it with the guys who play vanilla a lot , who they call " pros ".
I saw them playing and it was quite obvious the map was too small for 4n4
The 1 way to flag at the very left & right of the map was too small and deffing was to easy.
It was way too hard to cap a flag.

You tested it seriously with 4 pros vs 4 pros? It would be easier for sure with the short way now. But grabbing the flag itself is almost the same as before.

Sounds nice. Sadly most time you don't get as many players in to custom CTF maps (pro or not pro).
