Topic: [MAP] ctf_supremacy

For some of you, the name of this map may sound familiar. Supremacy is the official Nodes mod map, created by NoxNebula for large Nodes games. I saw some potential to turn that map into a capture the flag map and so ctf_supremacy was born. You may be wondering, why turn a map that was originally based on ctf5 more or less, into a new ctf map? Well, in my opinion supremacy is a good improvement over ctf5, and it can actually handle 8 vs 8 games.

Some stats...

Hearts - 38
Shields - 36

Shotgun - 10
Grenades - 10
Laser - 5
Katana - 1

This map is meant for large games, ideally 8 vs. 8.

Edit: Fixed the couple of red spawns in blue base, not sure how that slipped past me.

Re: [MAP] ctf_supremacy

You must not read much. I said, this is a rework of one of the maps from the Nodes mod and no, I am not a moderator for a Nodes server.

Happy flagcamping on 8vs8.
2 ways to the flag, and you can defend both staying in the mid (= flag).

Btw: I dislike the small corridors, below the base and in the mid.
Btw2: The two camping-platforms on the ground will heavy slow down games.

I can't wait to hear what the rest of the complaints are about this map. I'm sure they will be as entertaining as yours.

Re: [MAP] ctf_supremacy

To be honest I dont like the base and the mid thinness too. They were there in nodes as choke points for turrets and not so good for movement.

I don't see the camping spot however, the unhookables makes it harder to escape.
If you send it to nater when he gets back, he'll host it as nobody really uses custom maps around here.
(except slayer EDIT:[for gv server])

Reason why it can be abused for camping purpose:

I didn't modify the screens.
As you can see, you can't see the platforms from above.
And to make it perfect, you can't see the tee when he is hooking there (Maybe you can see the flag, dunno)

I don't say its useful (but it might be), however it will slow down the games.

I'm glad that you feel happy about my constructive feedback, written to help you to improve this map. smile

Re: [MAP] ctf_supremacy

I never gave this map a chance in nodes since it was the only map there which had way too less FPS on my PCs.

Re: [MAP] ctf_supremacy

I think that it could really be fun for 8v8 although I do feel that that spot can be used for camping and there are some parts of the map that are too thin. Other than those faults, I think this could be a really fun map to play.

Re: [MAP] ctf_supremacy

The design of the map is 99% identical to that of nds_supremacy which was made by NoxNebula and while I do believe its oddities are more adapted to that mod, I felt that it might make for some unique ctf gameplay. I didn't just place entities around randomly. I gave a lot of thought to their locations and the way gameplay would naturally flow. I was considering eliminating the bottom corners but then I felt it's interesting in the scenario you make an escape from the base around the outside. I made sure no entities were down there to prevent hardcore camping and honestly if a flag carrier camps down there they have virtually no chance of making a capture unlike the corners of ctf5.

It has almost the same amount of weapons and hearts/shields as ctf5, but there is more space, and I mostly kept the entities away from the common camping places. I also added an easy to obtain katana as a way to potentially break stalemates, something that ctf5 is notorious for.

I highly doubt anyone is interested in hosting this map, I just thought it might be worth sharing if nothing else than to present a map intended for 8v8 which I believe has not really been done before.
