Topic: Frame per second / FPS

Is there any way to modify the max FPS during vsync? 30 fps freaks me out and 800 SUX. I need 60 FPS. Any idea?

Re: Frame per second / FPS

Vsync should adapt your fps to the frame rate of your monitor. Means you should get about 50-60 fps.

If it doesn't, it could be a good idea to find the reason.
E.g.: Graphic card driver, (lower) settings for teeworlds.

Re: Frame per second / FPS

I have the latest catalyst. My monitor is set on 60hz. Other games set it to 60 but teeworlds.

ATI 5770, AMD Phenom II 955 @3.4Ghz 4GB DDR3 RAM. I don't think it is the problem.

Re: Frame per second / FPS

Imo teeworlds should make something like in Minecraft, Choosing an FPS-thingy, Like
FPS: Balanced
FPS: Max FPS
FPS: Modified

The funny about this signature is that you
don't realize until now that it's a useless signature
but it's too late to stop reading.

Re: Frame per second / FPS

Teeworlds uses standard facilities of SDL (the graphics library it's based on) to implement VSync. Sauerbraten (link) uses the same library, so you could download it and check if VSync works properly on it. If it doesn't, the problem is in SDL. In this case, you could try to ask on SDL forum and maybe contact the support the corporations that sold you your computer, Window, graphics card and drivers.

BTW, limiting FPS is a good idea, to prevent Teeworlds from consuming lots of CPU when VSync is off, but unfortunately just limiting FPS will not synchronize frames with VBlank and will not make it smoother.

cl_cpu_throttle might help too
