Topic: [MAP] Desertbattle

Desertbattle.map

After making some ddraces, I thought it was time to try and make a vanilla map for a change.
This is what came out, a small map for 2on2 CTF, maybe 1on1 ( if this exists ? )
I hope you like the gameplay, at least I do.

Basicly it looks like you did a good job on this one, but I have some things to complain:
First thing is that it looks like it would be too easy to get through the map. There are no major obstacles in your way from one base to the other.

Next is, that at the left/right place next to the middle is too much free space. Maybe insert a smal "dot" (2x2 tees), for easy hooking) (I didn't play the map yet, so I may be wrong)

Third thing: The base is very easy defendable, as its exit is pretty smal (5 tees wide), so the defeting team can easily "spam" the base with grenades, when an enemy has the flag. So he barily has a chance of escaping.

Fourth and last: I think, that there are too less health and armour pickups. 4 hearts and 3 shields per side are too less. And maybe you could add a second shotgun or greande launcher without problem.

Thx for the fast reply, it's taken in concideration.
Allthough I'll try to give some information, we did test it.

At your comment about to much free space in middle left & right, I don't think this is the case because when you play it you always hook the middle one to get up. If there would be a block, this would really get in your way and prevent fast gameplay, which was what I want.

Because I want fast gameplay, indeed, there are not many obstacles. And because there are not many obstacles, you can easily penetrate the base of the opponent, like every 4 seconds if he wants to, so deffing won't be that an easy job as expected.

To give the deffer a chance, yes there are spam options, but these don't always work.

Yes, those were some first impression thoughts, maybe I edit my post after playing the map.

I think you did a good job with this map, I can't see any graphical bugs, all the tiles were processed clean and the background looks also nice.
The gameplay... hmm, I don't know exactly, it looks nice, but I guess it could be better. smile

The only thing, I do not like on this map is, there are no doodads, it would looks better with some cactuses or sand hills. smile

About those 2x2 hook spots? I don't really think it's necessary, because those larger platforms can give you enough speed that hooking those 2x2's will only hinder you.

To fix the base problem, I would recommend placing the flag on the major platforms and making a 6 tee wide entrance.

If you dont understand what I mean, I can draw a picture; )

@ alias, That was my main idea, putting it on the major platform. But this makes it to hard for the deffers to have a chance. You are immediatly at the flag like this
