Hey and welcome to the official teeworlds forum!

It seems it is your first map, isn't it?
Its nice you found some interest in mapping, but you have to improve it.


I could list all of the issues here, but i will do it short:
- invisible solid tiles
- solid tiles for unhookable tiles (thought i cant see it clearly on this screen)
- little map but too much equipment
- pickups flying (hard to get, therefore wasted time)
- unbalanced pickups (blue base: 4 armor, red base: 6)
- bad movement (maps should be more wide than high to provide a fast and smooth movement)(stairs slow down)
- graphics (no doodads, no background)



Tbh, you could try to improve this map, but i think it would be better to get a new idea and build a new map. Good luck and have fun! smile

There are so much defaults to tell to improve your map I'm not going to list them.
Only this detail, as this is something I see in a lot of new maps: don't put respawn points next to the ground. Always put them 3 or 4 tiles in the air (take example on the default maps).

Mapping requires a lot of investment and motivation, good luck to improve your mapping style! :)

You improved some of my hints, but sadly not all.
Pls notice that a good map needs much time. You still didn't spend any time in graphics (background, doodads, ground). Again flying weapons, pickups, and boring gameplay (Small map with only 1 way).

Maybe take a look at the official maps. But you shouldn't post maps like these again, especially not without improved graphics.

In your map denis_ctf1, here are my suggestions for you, sir:

  • Imput corner tiles in corners
    All of your corners are missing corner tiles and that's so easy to fix.

  • Redo 1x1 brown parts
    The brown lines covering both flags is unnatural. The ground is supposed to be covered with grass but you'll need to beef them up to at least 2x2 to do that correctly.

  • Put weapons back to earth
    Floating weapons are unnatural. Put them near the ground.

  • No floating spawns
    Also unnatural. It's okay if you put them 1 square above the ground but not 16 squares...

  • Put hearts back to earth
    Again, put hearts and shields right next to the ground. View official teeworlds maps if you're having trouble with how to map correctly.

  • Make it bigger.
    Even the smallest of the official teeworlds' maps are bigger than that.

  • Don't make maps entirely square
    It's quite obvious that your playing in a square, which is bad. There's not one set shape to a map but it's not supposed to be a square. View other maps and see their shape. Some maps even have multiple ways to travel; try doing that.

Just click on the edit button at the bottom of your first post. Anyway You should try to work some more on your maps. They take a lot of time.

Hey, Cayman, I got some time, so I tried to rebuild your first map, added some doodads, clouds, grass, balanced the armor, moved the spawns, removed some weapon spawns, removed the unused spawns (brown), and added a Pokéball background (You can remove it by removing layer 1 & 2), etc. Here is a Screen:

What do you mean with teeish side? I think that clouds & grass don't remove the teeish side^^ And as I said, he could remove the background if he doesn't like it.

If you need some help on mapping, for example the background, or how to use the tileset grass_main and so on, You can ask DarkMarta - She's russian, too^^ Or you ask me, but I just speak german, english and french^^
