Topic: Ping question

Hi,

I have a problem with lag in teeworlds..usuaally i have good lags, around 70/80 in ctf maps...But most of times, especially after 10min of game, or when are to many people in the server that iam playing, the game starts slowing down, like little breaks..get harder to play well, and run faster...

When i play in perfect conditions with the same lag, the game is faster and "clean"..A lot of diference with the same lag and server!

Any tips?? Mods?? etc....

Sorry my english

Re: Ping question

I think this is a situation called "choke"...It's when the server is so busy(like when there are a lot of players) that the client just can't keep up...However,maybe some AV or Torrent program is slowing you down???

Re: Ping question

Just turn off the other programs while playing tw... or buy a better PC, that's it. Well it might be from your ISP, or if you're far from the location where the server is hosted, but I think it's the first one.

Re: Ping question

Well my prgrams is all off, except (avira antivir) otherwise it would be almost impossible to play, especially utorrent!
I usually play wilthout bigger problems ate the begging, but after 10 min gets harder to play...Lag stays the same, so maybe the problem is high consume of CPU of teeworlds, what is very strange!!
Anyway, my internet is 12mb, and the pc is more the enough for teeworlds! Graphic configs are very low..

But like i said, teeworlds sometimes works very well, other times not, in the same server with the same number of players!!
If anyone have or had this problem please let me know!

Re: Ping question

What OS are you using? Windows,Linux,Mac OS X?

Re: Ping question

its strange that it happens after some minutes only...
maybe some kind of virus
or the pc needs to slow down to prevent overheating. maybe you should check this out
otherwise you hardware seems to be too old

Re: Ping question

Slayer, it could also be a memory leak.

Re: Ping question

I'll have to agree with Dune...The guy said he has great hardware that is more than enough to support tw...
But again: What Internet(cable,ADSL,wireless...) and OS are you using?

Re: Ping question

he said he uses (usually?) the lowest graphic settings to play teeworlds, so his pc cant be that great, can it?

My pc:

Pentium Dual-Core CPU T4400 2.20GHz

Yeah, you should keep all your drivers up-to-date..

100% cpu usage is much way too high for teeworlds. Thought i dont know that much about computer hardware, it seems your graphic card is pretty old. Processor and RAM seems to be fine.

Re: Ping question

The graphic card should be alright, I had one that was even older and teeworlds ran fine. You just have to set The anti aliasing to 0.

Re: Ping question

ctrl+alt+delete, amd open task manager.

can you tell us how much CPU teeworlds alone is taking? (i have an i5 with 6gb ram, and teeworlds takes 4%)
