Topic: [POLL] remake best mod into trunk

i have collected the sources of my favourites Teeworlds mods:
i want to rewrite them in the best simple way, without a lot of feature but with the same gameplay....
i'm going to recode only the essential things to play the choosen mod
i like this mod:

Ball - zCatch - Catch16 - Bomb - FlagBall - iFreeZe - Race - DDRace - Instagib - FNG - Tournament - FastCap - Survival

of some mods that i listed, i haven't their source but they are simple to recoding without copy from original

tell me if i forgot some good mod
i want to make a unique executable server  file, where is possible choose the gametype and other settings...

Teerace will be included in 0.6.0. Anyway, if you do this, choose flagball! Best Mod and requiers a lot of teamplay, which is also the main idea of Vanilla gametypes.

Mmmm the only good mods in my opinion are FB, RACE, and SUR... sometimes a little instagib is fun.

First of all, *PLEASE* stop opening unrelevant polls at each discussion you start. That's really unnecessary, the poll option isn't something you must - or should - fill.

  • Race has already been ported to trunk

  • DDRace Race has already been ported to trunk

  • Instagib Race has already been ported to trunk

Ball's development is frozen, as much as bomb's one.

And why do you feel it's necessary to port those mods to trunk? Once they are protected from server crashing, I don't really see nor the use nor the emergency... that will come when 0.6 will get released

i used pool so if "NO" win the voting, i simply will not do what i explained...

By the way, "pool" is a place where you can swim in. A open air bath often got this. What you mean is a "poll".

Imho the developers of the mods have to look thereself that there mods get ported to trunk...maybe they don't want it? Maybe they are already working on it, but don't read this forum, so they don't see, that you want to start to? ...sry, but, how said, the developers have to do this imo.

As for the question, I wholeheartedly voted No. There are good, even great, mods and then there is Teeworlds; what it stands for. Simple. You'll have to agree many mods are far from simple but are fun and even addicting to play but they just aren't really Teeworlds. I have no problems with mods but they need to, for the most part, stay out of becoming official.

Give others the respect you wish to be respected with. In the mean time, enjoy the website!

It's just annoying to see on every thread polls for discussion that don't need to have any. It could give an argument for/against the idea, though it is completly unrelevant (see the first poll on this forum). Better to have nothing than unrelevant and confusing information.

And as said done, it's up to the devs to do that. In my opinion, this is some kind of useless for servers - except the crash protection - since there are few important server-sided changes in 0.5 trunk - a lot of changes yes, but no needed ones. You'll just get confused with the server commands, and have simple quotes over names.

If you really need to work on mods instead of helping in the development of vanilla, please work on the survival mod. This mod might get included into teeworlds some day anyway, because as far as I know, it is the only mod which is sort of vanilla, meaning it does not invent any really new features. It's more like a different version of tdm. I wanted to do a trunk version of survival myself some time ago, but I just could not find the time to do it. If you work on it, please also make a corresponding client modification. Just setting the killed players to spec, as it's done in the latest version of the survival mod is not really sufficient. If we want to do it correctly, and if we want it included in vanilla teeworlds, we need a good hud for the survival mod. Maybe it would be a good idea to show the "dead" players only in grey color in the scoreboard, instead of showing them in their team color. By this one could easily see if a player is dead or alive and it would not require a lot of changes in the hud.

So please, if you really need to work on mods, please let it be survival, because in my opinion, this is the only mod, which might be included in vanilla someday (leaving out race, because this will be included anyway, so there is really no need to work on that one, sushi has already a good version wink)

if teeworlds elders and guru wants survival in official gametypes, we can work togheter, but i don't believe they are interested

There are some people interested in this, I already talked to them. But if you want to take this task, you need to make sure, you don't code it like "lalalala..." it needs to be a good and compact mod. If this is done correctly, I see no reasons why this should not be implemented into teeworlds one day. Maybe not in the 0.6 release, but a later release might include the survival gametype. Also please realize that the first version of the survival mod was coded by official developers and the people who were involved in teetv. So don't think there is no interest in this thing.

idea for the survival mod, when a player die, he take this skin
so will be easy to identificate if someone is alive or not
