Topic: "timeout"

After I've played a while, can't say for how long though,
I get kicked out and I see a normal teeworlds-window where it says timeout.
It happens quite often and everyday. It's really annoying.
None of the other "tees" are having the same problem, at the same time atleast.
What has happened and what can I do about it?

Re: "timeout"

Does it happen once a day ore more often?
Do you use wlan?

aka cheesy

Re: "timeout"

Today it has happened five times..  I can play direclty after everytime.
I can't say if I use wlan or not, I'm sorry. I'm not that keen.. =S

Re: "timeout"

Well, can you see a list of networks when trying to connect? That means you have wlan. (simply, but not always right)

5

Re: "timeout"

When I'm connecting to teeworlds I have a list of options yes.
Now I got kicked again, the clock always says XX:13 or XX:43, which also is very wierd!

Re: "timeout"

you should check if other processes make heavy use of your bandwidth at these times.

Re: "timeout"

I don't have any other programs or applications started.
And I don't have any other problem with teeworlds except that I'm getting this message..
This bugs me.. =/

Re: "timeout"

Mh this is very strange i had the same problems yesterday and no high bandwith-using program was turned on just the usual things which i use everyday and still i got about 50 timeouts and 10 cp's just over one day.
Going to check it out today to see if i have any timeouts

Re: "timeout"

Is this happening on every server? Are you connected to the Internet through a router? If yes which one?

Some routers (usually old ones) do have some strange NAT behavior: they dynamically change the client's port. If that happens, the server believe you are somebody else and then drop all you packets, resulting in a timeout situation.
Unfortunately the Teeworlds protocol doesn't provide a way to detect such behavior, so you're screwed while you're using this router.

But it might be for another reason.

Re: "timeout"

Well i have a ZyXEL p-600 series it does support Wireless connection made a connection myself using a cable connection speed 100.mbps i never had any problems playing on german server or french (while im 1000km away in croatia.) Had a 65-150 ping never had any particular lagg except framedrops which happen only because my machine is fairly weak. My router isnt that old ive had it 1.5 years approx. When it was released in the world i dunno.
Im still having the same problem in just 30 min of playing i had 6 timeouts and 4 connection problems its kind of really annoying i can even play well like this

Re: "timeout"

timeout can mean that your computer didnt finish with loading the map for 10 seconds

What do you mean by that? That i went into the server too fast? I cant control the loading of them map or anything else?

mh... i said if your computer was busy with loading the map for 10 seconds, the server drops the client. (only happens on slow computers)

Re: "timeout"

When i go into a server or when i start Teeworlds? It seems all fine. I didnt even notice any changes in the behaviour of teeworlds when the laggs started

Re: "timeout"

Everytime you enter a server, your computer needs to load the map. From your hard drive to the RAM (which doesn't mean to download it from the server). It means that your com prepares the map to be played (if you havent got it by now, imagine the computer building the map in a plain white room, stone by stone, plant by plant). It loads every layer and every picture.

While this loading time your computer doesnt communicate with the server. So if your computer doesnt finish loading them within 10 seconds (mostly because there are some very big pictures in the map), the server hasnt heard from you for 10 seconds. So you are timed out.

This is a stupid bug and I hope it will be fixed within the next version. As well as the downloading of maps could be done much faster (according to heinrich5991).

void ..

Re: "timeout"

Downloading of the maps shouldn't be sped up, because Matricks says that "It will soak up all the bandwidth"... So it's limited ;(

Re: "timeout"

Mh the loading takes about 3-6 seconds (6 seconds only under heavy lagg and wlan...)
Well i played teeworlds for about an hour today and it seemed fine hope it stopped smile
