Topic: looking for critiques of tileset in progress
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd take a stab at making a tileset. It's not finished yet and I'm a little green at this kind of art - there's definitely some things I'll do differently next time. I thought I'd post what I have so far and see what you all think.
One question I have is that people seem to constantly refer to GIMP and Inkscape as being sort of a holy duo for teeworlds art, but for the kind of stuff I've done to create what I have so far, Photoshop's layer styles seem like the perfect thing to do almost all the actual pixel-pushing work almost automatically. (And, unfortunately I don't have it working under WINE properly on my machine, so I can't test the theory right now). Am I wrong in this or no?
The tileset is an attempt at making something that kind of has a "spooky mysterious forest at night" look but is still tee-ish. Right now it's got 1 or 2 minor lining-up problems on some tile/orientations that I need to fix.
I think one obvious problem is that the texture I put on the edge of the dirt wall parts is not very tee-like and would just as well be left out on a tile being repeated so many times, but it's not terrible on either count though.
