Hey all,
Super unit, just wanted to say don't get discouraged. I just played both maps linked to in your last post; for being small, simple maps that are by nature only going to offer a limited "scope" of gameplay, ie more towards a proof or exploration of concept, there's nothing terrible or unplayable about them. Just keep in mind that those types of maps, where players are looking at and doing the same things over and over, require a lot of refinement to be great.
I had fun playing the platformbattle map. I think the idea is good and could be refined into something pretty interesting, and you're mostly on the right track with how you set up the spacing of the platforms and such to create it. I wonder if having a little more room to run would help rather than hinder the basic concept as well as giving more room for more players. I do think that on a map so small and compact, the advantages and disadvantages of asymmetry between the 2 teams' sides get too amplified. Also, the platform with the ninja in the lower left feels kind of overly cut off from everything else, like inefficiently used space on a map that can't afford it. And I *really* don't like the unhookable tiles that aren't marked at all. It just detracts from the fun, even if you get used to it. Also, I notice you don't extend the shadow tiles on your maps to fully underneath the tiles on top of them, creating gaps of "light." It would look better without those .
Again though, don't get discouraged, and more importantly, GOOD ON YOU FOR CONTRIBUTING TO THE GAME.
