Topic: [UPCOMING MOD] Freedom, i need your help

Hey guys,
I have some idea for a mod(witch i gonna code myself)

The idea:
The first mod with drawn vehicles, WITHOUT a modified client. Or whatever new shit, only new is that there is an edited entities.png needed for the spawn of the vehicles. And ofcourse a map for the gametype.

Vehicles:
Jet -=- fast but that will make it too a lot harder to aim on somthing [Seats: 1]
Chopper -=- slow but accurate and can hang still in the air [Seats: 2]
Tank -=- same speed as a tee (maybe even slower) with a verry  strong explosive grenade with a verry long reloadtime [Seats: 1]
Quad -=- Extremly fast, but not strong and no mounted weapons [Seats: 2]

Controls:

The controls gonna be (if you use the default controls, on a default english keyboard):
All:
Space to enter/exit.

Jet
A to slow down, D to speed up.
Left-mouse for minigun.
Right-mouse for missile.

Chopper
Driver:
A go left, D go right
Passenger:
Rigth-mouse go up/down, depending on your aim.
Left-mouse for minigun

Tank
A go left, D go right.
Left-mouse for minigun.
Right-mouse for missile.

Quad
Driver:
A go left, D go right.
Passenger:
Left-mouse for normal weapon.
Right-mouse for hook. (Not sure yet)

Extra's
when a vehicle gets shot down it there will be a explosion of the size of the vehicle, and the driver + passenger[s] get killed.
You can walk past vehicles and its passengers. it wont collide with you.
Every vehicle has a respawn time. Witch is able to be modded, for some maps you want airship vs airship then you make only Jet spawns, and a verry fast respawn time tongue. So i hope this gonna be used alot.

Progress
Jet: 70%
Chopper: 60%
Tank: 0%
Quad: 0%
Other: 0%
TOTAL: 8.3%

What things i really need from YOU:
Well a simple sketch with only lines, and not too mutch of the vehicles.
And ideas for other vehicles/machinery.
Ideas for a better name/gametype_name (gametype name, i mean the name for ingame like "mod_ctf")
To make a test map(but you gotta wait whit that because im not sure yet what tiles i gonna use, and whatfor i gonna use them.

Here's an idea:

Make Tee of honor:

Game:
There are 4 types of vehicles:
-Tank
-jet
-chopper
-doombuggy

each vehicle must be balanced so that the gameplay would work out..
If tee's vehicle is destroyed.. it should blow up, and tee should be dismounted..
(guns should be disabled)


If you can make this.. youll be legend !

tongue well i hope i am a legend then, can you tell me a bit more about the controls/attacks(i guessed a bit around, but no idea if this is what you meant.)?

And i changed buggy into Quad, i think it more fits teeworlds.

and no i dont disable normal weapons, i even make them more effective on vehicles, because vehicles already have strong weps and a higher speed.

This all seems realy hard to code.. i hope u can code /:

It will be almost impossible to do that without modifying the client:
1. It's impossible to tell the client to draw a specific graphic at a specific position with a specific angle. You'd need a new entity for the vehicles. If you really want to use the default client, you could use the flag entity and replace it client side in the entities.png, but there's still the rotation problem.

2. Changing the default physics behavior of tees results in wrong prediction. It would look like tees are falling out of the vehicles continuously. Without prediction, ntl, there will be lags. If you reassign the A, D and Space key, the local client would show a walking or walking tee, while it isn't walking at all.

3. You are trying to add a missile which is not part of the game, no chance without custom client.

It's an interesting idea though, but you should really think about doing it with a custom client.

@Silentdeaths Yes i can, and you'll see it when the mod is finished. And overrun will make vehicles even better, and the vehicles dont collosion with players.
@inherted 1.I draw it with lasers, like the doors out [n]city etc. And you dont gonna tell me that you need a modified client for doors.
2.Yes the prediction will be a little weird, only thats only by your own tee, and i will do as mutch as i can to prevent it from getting worst
3.haha, we'll see tongue a grenade with no curvature remember?
@dune Yes it isnt rlly teeish, well you know how to get it more teeish?

well the devs of teeworlds wanted anyway to add vehicles

You're dreaming or what? Developpers immediatly refused that suggestion in the suggestion for the new version topic. It's even in red in the Azon's recap.

Vehicles would really slow down gameplay... it doesn't fit at all with the Teeworlds' speed... maybe try to implement that in My little poney, yeah it wouldn't break the spirit... with ability to bring Ken into big_smile

I don´t like these upcoming mod bla topics without any description which contains screenshots or something good viewable( demolinks etc.).

What problems i see :

How should a tank or chopper pass gradients? Can it jump or ride on walls ?  A plane map sucks in my opinion completly.

And i can predict if you gonna use a client mod this mod gonna be a completly fail. As time showed us gametypes with a required Client mod aren´t played that long

wops read it wrong, and NO i dont gonna make a client mod. And im still thinking about how to move the tank etc. but i think i just add boosters, so that the tank can go over some hills. so no it cannot jump or ride walls, but it can use boosters, like the quad.

And the thing why i dont got any screenshots is because i started coding a hour ago, and i just needed some help because im not rlly creative. And all vehicles have spawns, if you only want quads then just only place quad spawns in your map.

As I made those doors, I can imagine what it will be like. It will work, of course, but the quality of the mod will suffer from it. E.g., Tees are rendered above the lasers.  Prediction errors will heavily depend on the server ping. Anyway, good luck! I'd really like to see a tech preview or something if available.
