Topic: [HELP] Stitch (Germany) Server Hacker

Hey TeeWorlds User and TW-Team,

i had a Problem with a hacker. Or some peoples have problems with a hacker.
His name is Stitch. He is a server hacker or something like that.
Somebody says that he hacks.So i looked at him.. 5sec later server down.
I restarted the server and banned him.. 1min later server down.
So my question.. can you give him a IP-Bann?

Hello! At first, I don't recommend you to use the DDRace-mod, because there's a bug/feature in there which lets you enter the remote console (rcon) without typing in a password. And in the very most mods there are a known bug that some people abuse. If you know how to patch and compile a source, look at revision 2006. Otherwise, wait for the creator of the mod to release a fix.

In the future, contact the mod-developer first, as we don't use to give support for mods here.

Unfortunately it's not possible to ban him from the master server, since the bug is fixed in the latest version of Teeworlds, and it doesn't affect a pure server.

pure = CTF, DM or TDM

But on the other side... is running a patched teeworlds-vanilla version allowed or would it get a ban on the masterserver afterwards? wink - DDRace is not CTF, DM ... it's already a mod (so a patch is ok regarding this). There is even another bug: http://www.teeworlds.com/track/teeworlds/changeset/2009 and this was used a lot the last time to crash servers (and works even if there is nobody logged in) buy sending "bad" packets. And a lot of DDRace servers aren't anymore (someone had choosen to let it run but don't register it at masterserver a while so just guys that had it in favorites was able to play). If your server crashed one minute after you have banned an IP I guess this bug was used. It's (easy) possible to add the patch for the too small connless packets but you need a new DDRace version (which even means you need new maps).

You're not allowed to run a patched server as TDM, DM or CTF. If you want to use a secure version of a server, take a look at http://www.teeworlds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=6117 or compile the trunk-version of Teeworlds.
