Obvious the community will say you no. Teeworlds is Teeworlds, and opensource is opensource.
But opensource it's so opened that got also some bad sides like this. The actual Teeworlds license admin profit usage of the code without any notifications to the devs, only a "credit" to the original game.
Think about DinoSmash, but also about Geeplay.com... this projects are living on Teeworlds... btw, they can.
Nothing more to say.
I don't think it's "obvious" the community will dislike DinoSmash, if I remember correctly some of them actually supported it when people first realized what had happened. Here's my thought, I dislike DinoSmash, not because it's using the TeeWorlds engine, but because it's outright a bad port, they added their control scheme (obviously you can't use a keyboard and mouse) and it ruins gameplay, I'm also not a fan of the Dinos, I think they settled in-between a direct port and their own game using the TeeWorlds engine and it didn't in my opinion turn out well. That being said, if someone made a direct port and did well I would have no problem with it because it would still be TeeWorlds. I also wouldn't have a problem if a game took the TeeWorlds engine and made something better than TeeWorlds with it, if someone were to take it and turn it into a full out 2D platform shooter and did it so well that it surpassed TeeWorlds (which would be very difficult) I would support it because it was a great game. I guess my question is, is the rest of the TeeWorlds community so loyal that they wouldn't support a port of the TeeWorlds engine even if it was done well? With DinoSmash, they basically ruined the TeeWorlds feel, but if someone were to do it right, maybe even reinvent gameplay, would you support it even thought it used the TeeWorlds engine?
Be there. Aloha.
