Topic: [SOLVED] Can this happen in Teeworlds?
Recently, for the past week, my internet has been horribly slow and messed up. For example, in google chrome, sometimes when i click "teeworlds.com" it says "invalid URL" and shows a bunch of numbers. For other links, they say broken link, or not available. This might not seem teeworlds related, but read to the end to find out why.
Also, when i try to play the actual game (teeworlds) itself, my ping on all servers are all 200 or higher. usually some are around 30 and 70. Those are about 250 or so. (if that's not clear, sorry. I mean, my ping, on every server, is 200 above normal.)
And when my ping, in USA servers is normal, my hook has this weird slipping movement. When it's hooked firmly, it somehow lets go.
Lastly, and the most annoying, my dad (apparently he works in the computer industries) says that possibly, someone might have given me a worm through teeworlds. I don't think this is possible! (i'm not that old, so forgive me) Another "reason" for the slowness in internet he says, is that when i play the game, it's all right with the internet. But when I connect to master servers, the servers link my in game name to my external IP address. He called it DNS or something. And when someone tries to find me in the game, then the server attempts to request my IP address, causing a bunch of internet traffic. Another thing he said was that playing teeworlds or doing anything else like it would increase my chances of getting a virus by 50%.
But of course, it could be a worm.
Please help me on these topics:
- Can I get a worm from a player in the game?
- Do master servers really link my IP address to my computer, and cause traffic?
- Sorry if this is off topic, but do the web page errors in google chrome seem similar to symptoms of a worm?
PS. Only my internet is slow. Because his internet is fast (same connection), I feel it might be a problem in MY computer, not the internet. If you find it's a virus or whatnot, please tell me what kind and what I should do. Thanks, and sorry if you feel it's not teeworlds-related enough.
