Topic: Topics not read

Alright, so my problem (and hopefully solvable) is that when i look at a topic that has a new post, it doesn't mark it as read after I look at it. Is this JUST my problem, and is it fixable? or do others have this problem too?

It's not a bug, it's a feature. You can use "mark all topics as read" on the index-page.

You could also try using this feature and open each topic in a new tab:

I can't really get used to it myself, but perhaps you can.

The fine thing about 'mark all topics read' is that you might miss posts. To bad it's a feature tho.

I would guess that in order to avoid blowing the database up, punBB has a certain interval on updating your "last visited" timestamp. I find that if I refresh the "show new threads" after, say, five minutes, it correctly marks the threads as read.

Not a bug, but a design decision.

o well, I will get used to it. I guess I am just so used to phpBB that it was bugging me.

http://warsow.net/forum also uses punBB and there are no such 'problems' there. When you click on topic it's marked as read immediately. Also they have "Mark all topics as read" in every forum (section).
