Topic: Chatroom

Can you make a Chatroom for teewars? It would be better, to date with someone.
With ignore function, spam filter, bad word filter ect.

Re: Chatroom

Do you mean like a lobby, before joining a server? If you do I'm in agreement with you about that. But bad word filter, nah. Anti spam is good tho. But I would rather have a chat without filters then no chat at all.

Re: Chatroom

yeah a lobby. ok word filter is bad but some people with mod rights will be nice.

Re: Chatroom

you can try the IRC chatrooms e.g. #teewars

Re: Chatroom

IRC is the place for discussions. It's on the quakenet server. Channel: #teewars

No, that is not me; it's just a figment of your imagination.

Re: Chatroom

I'm agree: Chatroom will be nice.

Re: Chatroom

+1

could we use IRC in teewars game?

or it is simplier to build the chat on its own?

8

Re: Chatroom

Maybe implement the teewars channel into the game, (oops, I lost the game...) it could be like a built in one use IRC client.

No, that is not me; it's just a figment of your imagination.

Re: Chatroom

It's certainly doable, but I think it's verging on bloat. I'd much rather look into functionality for launching Teewars to a specific server, improving friends 'n favorites, etc.

All these areas will be revisited in the future.

Chat functions hans been with us from first MMO's. In MUD's, browser games, graphical MMORPGs, net multiplayer modes... Chatrooms is everywhere, when severeal pepople playing by net connection. It's just one of minimal fetures. At lest because 1 of MMO game's functions is to make friends.

...And well, it's not convinient to jump between full-screen TeeWars and ICQ, just to correct server, where we would play). Chatroom is enough for this purpose, when "friends 'n favorites" stuff - only non-important features.

Re: Chatroom

Yes Teetow, if too much added, teewars will become chaotic, and I don't want that. sad

EDIT: Not to push it, but not really an in-game IRC, just a tab in the teewars main window?

No, that is not me; it's just a figment of your imagination.

Re: Chatroom

1) No. Primitiviness IS a chaos, not complexity. Most chatoic thing (ever!) is a molecular\atomik movement.
2) Try TDM with 20 players on small map)))).
3) Chatroom is not "too much". It's "too few".

Re: Chatroom

Again, the question is not "do we need IRC support?" but rather "how can we improve matchmaking?" or "what's the easiest way to find my friends?" This is why I argued against implementing an entire IRC subsystem into the game itself. A lobby chat may be more relevant, but I would still consider it slightly redundant.

Keep the ideas coming, though.

Agree. Simple chat will be enough.

Re: Chatroom

Hi. The chatroom on Quakenet is full. Were it possible to redirect users to another one in this case? =]

Re: Chatroom

We are still looking for a coder to do a community site. This site will then be integrated somewhat into the game to make things as smooth as possible.

Languages shapes the way we think, or don't.

Re: Chatroom

We are basically looking for someone with good web programming skills (server side code). Python is our tool of choise, but we haven't really decided on anything yet. What we want to build can be found here.

Re: Chatroom

Humm
I'm quite familiar with PHP/MySQL (xHTML, CSS, JS, DHMTL/AJAX). I've made the french Ogre3d's website ( http://ogre3d.fr ), which contains a home-made forum (with right management, etc ...). I've made a multilingual tablature hosting website: http://partaz.net . And a lot of other websites.
I'm just not very good for webdesigning.
If you are interested, contact me
