Topic: [SUGGESTION] Plug-ins

I suggest a plug-ins system on TW 0.6.0
If you want to modify a client, you can install one module sad
With plug-ins you will can install as many modules as you want (for exsample: colorlaser+teamcolors+etc.)
And plug-ins create its own submenu in config menu
Search of plug-in can be in 2 ways
1. Like Photoshop (folder with plug-ins scan at run programm)
2. User add plug-in in TW when he need it. (faster launch)

Looks cool, isn't it?

- What was noise?
- Ze sound of progress, my friend.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Plug-ins

It's an idea, that maybe should be considered. But I doubt this is the right way to go. First of all it is quite complicated to do such a thing, because a lot of modifications you might want to do on the client dig into the code itself very deep. The plugins would need to "replace" parts of the client code. I believe this is very hard to do. Secondly, there have already been dicussions if using unofficial clients is cheating or not. The general outcome was that usng client's that abuse resources(autoreconnect e.g.) or provide the user with featuers that give him a clear advantage towards other players not using this modification should not be allowed. By implementing a system like you suggested, the problem about "cheating" client's would get even worse.

To get to the point: I don't think that this feature is worth work devs would have to spend on it. It could even create more problems, so I suggest not to implement it.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Plug-ins

Everybody will create his own plugin. That will be useless things. Who really want, learns C++ and modifies source code. Voting -

Re: [SUGGESTION] Plug-ins

Think bout the benefits first!

Imagine that an advanced player want to get something from a modded client [(red and blue team colors) (example)] but does not want the whole client, he can easily install the plugin and continue playing smile

Plus, this way there will be no mods, just original client with plugins ^^. And maybe an in-game tab plugins will be useful for removing and seeing which are currently installed.

I think it's a wonderful idea smile
