Re: [HELP] Server hosting - no master servers

First of all bumping a topic is not nice, so you shouldnt do it.

To host a server over the internet you need to be able to open ports. To open ports you need to be able to access your router's configuration. Go to http://portforward.com and select your router from the list to access a guide on how to forward ports for your router. ( If you can't find the exact model, try a random model from the same vendor which is similar to your router ).

Even then not all ISP's allow you to forward ports, so you may also want to connect your ISP and ask for information/help.

We will meet again when the flowers spread their glorious scent of victory and the birds sing us the melody of justice...

the chosen port is open
i just chose an other port than 8303, port 135

Port 135 is a well-known port, like all lower ports.

Remote Procedure Call (RPC) port 135 is used in client/server applications (might be on a single machine) such as Exchange clients, the recently exploited messenger service, as well as other Windows NT/2K/XP software. If you have remote users who VPN into your network, you might need to open this port on the firewall to allow access to the Exchange server.

Port 135 is used by Messenger Service (not MSN Messenger).

I think you can't use it, because it's opened but it's already used by Windows Messenger service.
You need to open another port.
It's not important that is the Teeworlds default one, from 8301 to 8309, but it's important you open it in UDP. And try to not open an already used port like 135.
I suggest you the default, 8303, for be sure.

What's the problem? Why can't you open one port?
There are many guides on the net, like Torch already said...

So... you have a blocked router.
Where you bough it? Through your ISP?
If so, maybe it's blocked. They don't want you to open port, and maybe it's written in the contract.
You have to ask them.

OOOOOhhhh telecom alice?
I had it too in the past.
Ok. So:
1) You router or modem is blocked by Telecom. They can open port ONLY by remote access. You must ask their call center, but at 99% they won't do it.
2) You can modify the firmware, but you don't want.

So... simply you can't, with this router. You can change router.

Do you run Linux? If yes, run the server as root, because only the root-account can use port 1-1024.
