Topic: [SUGGESTION] Sub-Catagories for forum (redone)

if its not as clear as i thought it was im sorry

down to business

basically
in support add sub categories such as SUGGESTION, Technical, bug report
in content : graphics  add sub categories such as teeskins , map skins , game skins , requests

because putting all of those in one place is confusing and some times very annoying.

This would be very helpful. Instead of having to look for all the map graphics or the skin graphics, you can just look in the sub-categories where they are all held. [+]

Re: [SUGGESTION] Sub-Catagories for forum (redone)

This is an interesting suggestion. It's quite a while that this forum structure was set up so it could be potentially valuable to review this. For that reason it would be most interesting to see what other forum users have to say about this. Would you prefer the current structure or rather see something like:

Teeworlds Forum
• News
• Developers Journals
• Support
   - Problem support
   - Questions
• Development
   - Bug report
   - Suggestions

• Community News
• Content: Maps
   - Vanilla
   - Race
   - Other
• Content: Graphics
   - Teeskins
   - Gameskins
   - Tilesets
   - Other
•  Content: Other
   - Mods
   - Tools
   - Avatars

There are certainly some advantages to this approach, as you know exactly where to go to post your topic or find your information. But at the same time it would mean more clicking and browsing through different areas of the forum. Both ways have their positives and negatives so tell me what you think!

Re: [SUGGESTION] Sub-Catagories for forum (redone)

I would prefer the current structure because its simpler, and even with the current categories there are a lot of posts which are in the wrong category. Imagine how many misplaced topics would be with even more categories. Further more I dont see any real advantage that this structure would bring.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Sub-Catagories for forum (redone)

about misplacing topics its so true
most (generally speaking) misplacements of topics on internet forums is because of the lack of existence of a suitable category
as in for advantages not only that its easier to find topics without searching
it looks and feels more professional

I would be better like this. :]
torch has a good point. Can't there be a option to have subcategories for the people that like it and people that don't?

Teeworlds Forum

• Support
   - Problem support

   - Questions
   - Other
well it is all about support why splitting it into Problem Support = Help= Question for me if i need support i wanna have help for my problem which i discribe with a question well for me kinda pointless.
• Development
   - Bug report
   - Suggestions/idea
   - Tutorials Why do i need a tutorial for development? I mean this is not about teaching how to code. If people don´t know how to hack on the teeworlds source then they just shouldn´t do it
   - Questions (for bugs/suggestions/...ect)

• Community News

.

I gave up when i recognized that there where even more senseless branches.

Totally overdone and too much chaos with threads where and all these "other" branches pointless since there is already for kinda everything twice possibilty to post it.

For me it should stay as it is. Maybe the one or other sub categorie but only things which are needed and will add more system behind this posting. as long as the overview is not disturbed i don´t care but if we do the change like Xtreme bee suggested it would end in a messed up forum .

But in the end this is all about messed up Topic titles if there would be kinda option to specify the topic title like in maps [ Race] or [Vanilla]
or in Graphics [Skin]  [Tileset] [Gameskin]
it would be easy to filter your prefered topics

Re: [SUGGESTION] Sub-Catagories for forum (redone)

Yeah... I don't get the "Problem Support" when I see it now. I didn't really see that when I added on to it.
Well you can't automatically assume that all questions are help related, but they are closely related. I figured you could need a tutorial for everything, and that's your opinion.
I put other on everything since there are some more "branched" that could be added, but aren't as popular, so they can be put in other.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Sub-Catagories for forum (redone)

I agree with Marik16, many sub-categories of Bee are senseless, same for Other.
The best is the sub 'Other' in 'Content: Other'...

Anyway, Azon :

I think CTF, DM, and TDM should be instead of Vanilla

Avatar should be in 'Content: Graphics'

There could also be a 'Community Talk' or something like that,
related to many question topic such as this or that

I'd really love to see the structure Azon wrote in this forum <3

Re: [SUGGESTION] Sub-Catagories for forum (redone)

I really think modifications shouldn't be thrown in an 'other' subforum.
Apart from this, I agree with the Azon's scheme.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Sub-Catagories for forum (redone)

Instead of creating subforums, you may keep using tags (and use pun_tags).

check out these maps: infiltrate - choco - dustycloud

tags require more time of the client (player)
and forum noob will over tag
i still thing categories looks professional and awesome more than the current status
