Topic: [HELP] Ubuntu 9.10,couldn't quit the game

Hi all! First of all I'd like to say I'm really happy I've found this game, it's the only attractive linux-game for me=) It's really superb.
And now some words about my problem. I've installed ubuntu 9.10 about a week ago.It is my first 64-bit system. The first thing I've done was the installation of the teeworlds from playdeb.net. Everything was good, but I couldn't quit the game. Teeworlds freezes the x11. clrt-alt-f1, login, password. entering the top. teeworlds has 100% cpu usage. kill pid doesn't work O_o I really don't know what to do. Are there any ideas? (If you need any info about my PC configuration, I'll provide it)
P.S. sorry for my English=)
P.P.S are you sure that the page about compiling (http://www.teeworlds.com/?page=docs& … Everything) is up-to-date?

I have same problem too.I know where is the problem smile but I don't know how to solve sad
The problem is the sound controller lock-up the game so it can't close. sad
Here is a way to quit:
Applications --> Accessories --> terminal --> ps -A | grep teeworlds --> kill -8 "The process ID(The number that you see at left) of teeworlds(without quote)" --> Finish!
You must use this way before you find the solution... sad

When you've killed Teeworlds, type "exit" and press enter.

Re: [HELP] Ubuntu 9.10,couldn't quit the game

Unfortunately, your ways don't work in my case.
But it looks like I have solved this problem, I think.
In the folder /home/_Your Username_/.teeworlds the is a  file called settings.cfg.
Open it, find the string snd_enable 1 and type 0 instead of 1. This will turn off the sound in the game. Save the file and enjoy the game!=))
P.S. thanks gameover for the hint about sound controller.

Re: [HELP] Ubuntu 9.10,couldn't quit the game

Thanks, I'll try that, having the same problem too. A fix for the sound driver issue would be nice though, I can't notice anything if there's no sound sad

Re: [HELP] Ubuntu 9.10,couldn't quit the game

After doing some research i found out that quite a lot of games using sdl have this problem with sound (on several ubuntu versions and on other linux distributions as well). It seems to be a problem with sdl itself or sdl-mixer, I'm not sure about that. For some reason it only seems to appear if you are using alsa as sound mixer. I was able to get sound on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bit by switching to pulseaudio completely, and using libsdl1.2-pulseaudio instead of libsdl1.2-alsa. After doing this I also had no more problems with quitting teeworlds, everything works fine now. Here is a guide on how to get pulseaudio going for ubuntu, it helped me a lot smile. I hope this helps you guys, that are also having problems with tw sound on ubuntu, too.

Re: [HELP] Ubuntu 9.10,couldn't quit the game

no sound = no problem big_smile
I'm glad Teeworlds works fine and I don't really need sound to play.
And I don't want to think about alsa, pulseaudio, oss and others. I just want to relax and to play the game))
For me it is the easiest way.

Re: [HELP] Ubuntu 9.10,couldn't quit the game

Well, but for others sound is very essential, for example in highlevel games, a lot of people use the sound to predict, where players out of their range of vision might be. But of course you don't have to use it, if having no sound is fine for you, that's ok, too, but maby others are interested in how to solve this problem wink

Re: [HELP] Ubuntu 9.10,couldn't quit the game

Ctrl-Alt-F1, Alt-F7 helps me to help teeworlds quit, when I`m quiting it... wink

Re: [HELP] Ubuntu 9.10,couldn't quit the game

Sorry my english isnt good. Only Spanish.

Bueno yo actualize alsa a la version 1.0.21:
http://monespaceperso.org/blog-en/2009/ … oala-9-10/

Re: [HELP] Ubuntu 9.10,couldn't quit the game

That's because the new Ubuntu's sound daemon, PulseAudio. You should install PulseAudio support for SDL.

[you@host teeworlds-0.5.2-linux_x86]$ sudo apt-get install libsdl1.2debian-pulseaudio

Then run Teeworlds as:

[you@host teeworlds-0.5.2-linux_x86]$ SDL_AUDIODRIVER=pulse ./teeworlds

I hope that helps.
