I don't really like steam (their games lke hl2 and portal are great, it's the linux part that hurts), besides, real problems running it on ubuntu.

Eehhww.
I realise Steam has improved a lot since it last outright refused to run on my computer, but I still wouldn't appreciate it hogging precious computer cycles while I play a game as fast-paced as Teewars. It's also quite possible the brand new Teewars server would collapse and catch fire [again] if all 15 million Steam users connected at the same time. Not if, when!
