Topic: Two players - One IP addres

Hello!

i have a problem - we try to play on remote server but after several seconds we both hang somewhere on map (in jump usually) and can't do anything (we hanged in this way on some remote servers)

my opinion is: this is related to our network connection. our computers share one IP. for me it is a real IP and second computer uses mine as proxy. so it looks like our connections to server are messed up, and die twisted together.

solution with personal server worked fine. i start server (cos my computer is with real IP) and every thing runs ok. no hangs and no problems.

but we want to play on another server which is solving same problem for other players.

so how we can trick this out?
because it is a real pain to stand behind and look how others are playing! (;

Did you try to play on a server without your friend? or your friend without you?

Try to join an other server as your friend and play for a while to figure out if this problem happens too...

What is your ping when you hang? and the ping of your friend?

we tried out 3 or 4 different servers - same effect after ~30 seconds of playing.

ping is something about 60-200 and other players are moving normally. we see them jumping around and shooting at us. but our players just freezes somewhere on map and not responding.

while this, game is still fully functional. we can disconnect from that server and join another.

then playing alone (or then i start server) everything is ok

we will try to play on different servers later and i post about our results here. thanks for idea

playing on different servers take same result but in longer time. something about 5-7 minutes

Maybe run one computer through tor?

No, that is not me; it's just a figment of your imagination.

Re: Two players - One IP addres

Ok I'm pretty sure I know this problem smile On Starcraft (from Blizzard) I had this exact same problem. When I talked to their support they stated that to play Starcraft online each player must have a different EXTERNAL IP address. The reason being was when sending information to the external IP address, for some reason the info gets mixed up on where it is going. I would assume this is the same with this game. Now the thing is though, that on Starcraft when you are on 2 different servers the problem does not exist. That would be the only reason that i would consider this to NOT be the problem

I actually managed to play Diablo2 over a proxy and therefore had one external IP playing on the Battle.Net at the same time. Worked without a problem.
