Topic: [HELP] server host

I want to host my server, but I have a problem.
when I open mod, everything is allright. no firewall/net problems ....
The server works perfectly. everything is working. I can see my serv in Internet, but others can't see my serv not in Lan, not in Internet. I asked people and one man said that I had private something and that I must make it public. Could you help me and tell what must I make public and what must I do?

Hope you understand everything.

Re: [HELP] server host

I think your friend meant you have private IP address. You have to get public IP address for hosting TeeWorlds server. Contact your internet provider for more informations.
If you will not get it, you can host server using Hamachi. Its alternative way how to play with friends without public IP. Your friends will have to install that application too, and they will connect to IP the application will tell them.
But using hamachi, nobody will see your server in the server list.

Goodbye all. Account inactive since March 2011.

Sure? It should be under "LAN"!

I guess he has already a public IP address - if not, he could'nt write in this forum.
You have to forward the port 8303 by the router to your pc. There is a link in the FAQ to http://portforward.com/

Have fun

Not true. There are some connections behind a NAT, that usually got same ip address for all clients, so ports are all closed. This is a shared public ip... useless for hosting a teeworlds server. Some examples are HSDPA and HSUPA tecnologies (Internet Keys), UMTS, GPRS and other mobile inets. In Italy there is also a operator called FastWeb that is NATted

Re: [HELP] server host

I just want to add that NATing is not as unusual as one may think. Here in Slovakia major internet providers nat, and it will be due to exhaustion of IPv4 much worser.

Yeah...
it's like an ISP give the same IP to 10 or more clients at the same time

Re: [HELP] server host

Don't revive dead topics, open up a new topic instead.
Take a look at some Hamachi Docs or tuts.

P.S. There is some increased activity of necromancers and spam bots. Something is in the air (:

P.P.S. Perhaps someone should write a tut about hosting tw servers through Hamachi.

Edit: Yes now I remember: Who can't (?) or don't know how to forward ports or those who use modem mobile internet(HDSPA tech) can use Hamachi. It emulates LAN connection over IP. But as Slayer said it's tricky. You need to create a network and players need to join but for that they need to know your IP or network name (I forgot how it goes) so not everyone can join ur server.

Hamachi will create a pseudo-lan-network, means you don't need to forward the port.
However, every1 who wants to join your server needs to be in your hamachi-network.
Make sure you disable the firewall.
Then just run the teeworlds-server and all others should be able to connect to your server (via the hamachi-IP).

Btw: Please look at the date, you should open a new topic instead of bumping old ones.

Why? There isn't something special when hosting a server via hamachi.
As there are enough tuts about hosting a server, a user could only encounter problems with hamachi. And as it is the official teeworlds-forum, he might google how to use hamachi (thought its pretty easy).

But not coz of its difficulty, he just didn't inform about hamachi.
However, there are tons of tuts about it, google will help you wink
