- Screensaver is disabled
- gnome-screensaver runs in the background:
$ ps aux | grep screensaver
myuser    9317  0.1  0.2 166364  4456 ?        Ss   10:27   0:18 gnome-screensaver

I have problems, suddenly during gameplay, it doesn't hang, but:
- it loses sound playback
- the game doesn't hang, I can continue to play normally (without sound)
- on quit it hangs

In order to exit the application, I have to press CTRL+ALT+F1, login and execute:

killall -9 teeworlds

Do I have to kill gnome-screensaver? Even though it runs in the background disabled?

Dunno, can you play in other distros? (livecd ubuntu tried it?)

The problem is that it doesn't happen always, but randomly so I can't find the cause of this problem.
It happens about 1/10 times I play.

It looks like it has to be completely killed.

killall -9 gnome-screensaver

I also ran teeworlds on my gentoo system no problem. Ubuntu 9.04 hangs on exit. It seems to be after a certain time period though, because if I start teeworlds and then exit, it exits fine. If I play for a bit and try to exit, it hangs on exit. Any ideas?

I also face the same problem every time while I am running Ubuntu 9.04. I lose audio after a while then I close it and it freezes and I turn off the computer and it won't turn on because of all the heat the game makes. This is clearly a security issue that must be fixed. I also notice that this only happens in Ubuntu for me. I also notice that in Teeworlds in Ubuntu I get too many connection problems.

The same problem for me on Ubuntu 9.04! (0.5.1 version)

Mysterious unexpected sound losses in game... O_O
Please, tell me what log files can i search for to find out the reason of this error?

PulseAudio + Alsa bad interaction is likely to blame. Some details here:

Switch to full PulseAudio or full Alsa (ie, remove PulseAudio) to solve. Here, the SDL PulseAudio backend does some cracking noises (bad sampling) so I removed PA altogether and it's working like a charm, but it depends on your audio hardware.
