Re: [HELP] Connection problems - Windows XP

1) try to disable wlan and to use a lan cable
2) next time don't buy a d-link
3) you have this problems with every server?
4) you have problems in a lan created server or in a localhost server?

Re: [HELP] Connection problems - Windows XP

I'm not sure how related this is, but the max speed of wireless is 54mbps, whereas a standard ethernet cable can go 100mbps.

Please don't call me mini.

What is problem with D-Link? Its known for making low-quality?
I have one and I don't experience much problems.
//edit Minifig: That should not be problem as connection needed to run TW is just a fraction from theoretical Wifi/LAN

this means nothing, since your adsl is maximum 20 mega... xD
Btw, wireless is more laggy than ethernet cable, the ping is higher, expecially with walls.

I agree with you, some D-links are really good and i have one of them too, it's Linux powered and it's awesome. But low cost d-link with bad firmware (and they are so many) are really really bad and laggy, because of they have no memory and limitations on half open connections.

Re: [HELP] Connection problems - Windows XP

IIRC, there were some similar problems, try searching this forums for some solution.
You could also try some program like ping to watch your connection behavior.

(sorry for OT)
Ah, I have that linux-powered one, 584T, just one phone to four LAN, and i quite like it (love sshing and writing /dev/mem to itself ...)

I think it's not needed. I've done a little search on the web about his router (sry if I don't have done it before).
Here it is:

One of my friend got the same product without wireless and it's terrible. The feature are really good, but the firmware not.
So, i tell you what you have to do:
- use lan cable instead of wlan.
If it doesn't work:
- try the adsl with another router (maybe ask one of your friend).
If it works fine:
- change the router with a linux powered d-link or another brand. I suggest Zyxel and Netgear.
If it doesn't work, the problem is not the router or the lan cable, maybe are computer problems (missing drivers, network adapter...) or inet problems. The only solution for the second case it's to change provider big_smile
I think that's all.

Ehm... i have a 50 metres lan cable going inside my house... big_smile No need of holes... ^^
If you have a wall, it's that the problem of wireless connection. Wall make all laggy.
i think there are no drivers problems, so the only thing you can do if
- you don't wanna use lan cable
- you wanna play better
It's to power-up wireless signal. You can easily do this building yourself a directional cantenna.
Read the istructions here:

An italian better and easily method (i can't find this method in english so i translate with google)

No problems, this forum is here also for these type of problems i think.
Be sure to buy a direct (not crossed) 5/5e LAN CABLE. If you find it, please buy a S-UTP (screened Unshieled twisted pair), FTP (foiled twisted pair) or a STP (shielded twister pair). Simple UTP cable are cheaper and wide diffused, but may have interferences.

Enjoy ^^
