Topic: [IDEA] TeeWorlds on laptops and Absolute Axis

Hello everyone.

I would like to talk to all interested developers and players about a recent hack I tried on the teeworlds engine.
The hack demonstrates the possibility of playing the game using a touchpad, for the laptop users on the go, or for those who simply don't want to attach a mouse.

The hack is just a quick prototype of the idea I had of trying to use absolute axis from touchpad to control the aim cursor, and I am very satistied to note the idea seems valid as the input system in-game seems to work well.

At the moment, the hack just works on linux (using evdev), and being a prototype there are quite a few problems, but if there is a decent interest over the project a small group of developers could implement the idea for Win and MacOSX in a small amount of time.

Let me know if you want to see the code / try the hack!

Ok people.
I post a quick way of trying the hack, and give a bit of instructions for the interested.
If the idea seems good to you I could made it more user friendly and bug-free.

That would be great, I use a 'netbook' sometimes and I would love to be able to run TW without having to find a mouse. I can never seem to find one! Great idea.

Re: [IDEA] TeeWorlds on laptops and Absolute Axis

I've already experimented this using an hacked up absolute xorg driver and a patch to teeworlds 0.4.3 (or one with the bad glfw library).

I played it like this for a week, but it had a hardware problem : if i put my finger on the touchpad for a too long time (several minutes), the thing would overload and go crazy, sensing a phantom finger for 5-10 seconds (that is, it was reporting two finger when there is only one, and one if there is none).

And because this always happened at a bad time, i abandoned this idea.
