Topic: [SOLVED] 2-minutes connection-problem on kubuntu 9.04

Hello guys,
Two weeks ago i switched from windows to linux (Kubuntu 9.04). Its wonderful, but i have a big Problem. I searched several times her in the forum and googled, too.
In Teeworlds i have all two minutes a "connection Problem" on my screen, time is around 3 seconds. Ingame there are some people, who have the same problem. ah, on windows its all fine. I know thats kubuntus fault, but maybe anyone knows the solve.

Use Foresight instead, have better drivers for networking etc.

maybe there is another solution than changing the OS? thx anyway, i think off it if there is nothing else to solve the problem wink

Do you have this problem on certain server? If other people has this problem too, it doesnt looks like thats yours problem.

no, its on all servers. This is the funny thing, on windows its smoothly. But ive already updated network-drivers, and now i dont know what to do hmm

Does your processor have normal temperature? Maybe its overheating and limiting network.
Also, what kind of connection do you have?

/edit:  Try asking ubuntu folks on their irc (freenode), they may have some expriences smile

okay, the processor isnt overheated at all, tested it with speedfan and all was fine. I have WLAN, but -ive already said that- on windows with Wlan it works all fine. I tried to ping the google-server, and there was the same problem: all two minutes packages were lost. I questioned it here, because if anyone have the same problem then me and doesnt find anything in google out, too, he can look here wink I will look for an answer in the world wide web. I thought with this question i dont have to look through more then 10 Sites in google - However, if anyone knows the answer,  i am still here and checking for helps smile

Okay finally, after two months searching for google and questions on forums heres the solution for it:
(funny, its actual so easy ^^)


At this point I would probably install wicd. There have been so many weird problems with KDE4 and network-manager that I tend to suspect it. I can't see anything else that is wrong. I suggest you run

sudo aptitude install wicd

, find wicd in K->Applications-> Internet and configure it, and see if your problem does not go away. This will cause network-manager to be uninstalled, so don't be surprised by that.
