Topic: [BUG] Spammers

Hi all.
Yesterday, I have played CTF5 yesterday. Somebody still spammed there and there were a votes to kick them. But there was one name-hijacker, for example my name is [QF] Khubajsn *Cz*, he/she just added some whitespaces at the end of name and spammed, it looked like I am spammer and people kicked me. I think you know whne there are two or more players with same name, there is (1) or (2) etc. at the end of theyre names.
But with whitespaces at end, it may cause the same thing like when I played. So, new version may before adding (1) etc. at end of same players' name strip all spaces in name, then check, if there already isn't (aren't) same name and then do next actions.
At second, some players can change theyre IP address. So, for example there will nameless tee with IP 88.145.28.2 and he will spam. He will get kicked, he change his IP to 88.145.28.3 or to 88.145.29.2 - he is not banned, he change name, join server and spam again. So, in next version there will can also be an IP ranges kicking - it will not accessable by vote, but if server detect kicking same range of IPs e.g. three times, it will ban all range. I know, it can be discriminating for others, but there is no other way to do it (if there is, post it here).
My third and last idea is flooding detect system. Its discussed a lot and its already included in some modifications. If somebody will post three times same text to chat or three times text with same first e.g. 64 characters, it will mute or kick him.
I hope you understand with my ideas and you will post me some opinions/ideas to make this better.
<QF> Khubajsn *Cz*

Hum... You are right.

I tested, and I found that if you put space bars at the end of a name, it doesn't come up when you vote. yikes

It just looks like normal name without any spare bars at the end... but really my name had 8 white spaces at the end. xD

So I suggest that in the next version that it would look like this with white spaces at the end.

But with every thing else, I have no comment on.

Re: [BUG] Spammers

Banning by IP Range isn't as successfull as you might think. My IP changes to something completely different on each reconnect. Sometimes it starts with 81.xxx.xxx.xxx, and on another try I might have an IP starting with 62.xxx.xxx.xxx.

The only "real" solution is to wait for the account system. Some annoying people would still just create new accounts, but this might reduce the spammer count.

Re: [BUG] Spammers

Huh? I thought this was fixed in 0.5.1. Matricks said so.
It's easy to fix, I think.

Thank you a lot, Magnet! I hope this situation will not occur in next version implementing antispammer system.

Re: [BUG] Spammers

I think it's bad
firsly: for i.e I have dynamic ip, it's not only 90.x.x.x, it can be 92.x.x.x or 180.x.x.x
secondly: name ban is very bad thing. For example someone hate u, and that people going to spam with ur nick...
Muting is good idea
