Topic: [QUESTION] What's up?

Since 0.5.1 there's been little activity on the developer side. The trac time line shows almost no activity at all since the 0.5.1 release.

I know that this game is developed on free time but I'm still very curious. Hope you're doing fine whatever you do, and in the mean time it seems the community is enjoying the game immensily.

Re: [QUESTION] What's up?

We are busy with other things such as our personal lives and other projects. The current state of the source requires some people to finish some stuff before we can start on other things, and that's why it has kinda stopped. We hope to continue developing when we have the time, but we are all pretty busy right now.

Yeah, and it's summer. Devlopers also got a real-life, they also want to go swimming and to flirt with bikini-girls. wink

Just relax... It's done when it's done... smile

Re: [QUESTION] What's up?

TeeWorlds is currently rewrited from C++ to Lua almost completely, and its very hard. Imagine it like when you have a book and you must rewrite it to other speaking language. Developers are doing it mainly because of Lua is easy language and after releasing 0.6.0 much people will learn that language and they will get TeeWorlds development team. Just look at user list and try to search users in Development user group (in moderators are some developers too). There are not much guys yet.
Simply, rewriting TeeWorlds is very hard and developers are having theyre real-life (how said hooker, [+]). They must go work everyday, they work on other project and.. what a surprise - they want to have some fun! Between all things I said, there is a little time - they donate it TeeWorlds.
P.S.: Thanks, developers!

Can you tell me where you read that the game is rewrited from C++ to Lua almost completely ?

Play ctf_fall if you dare!

Re: [QUESTION] What's up?

The game is changed to support server-side Lua scripting, but not the whole game.

Re: [QUESTION] What's up?

I'm quite relaxed, thanks. And no, game developers do not have personal lives. wink

Seriously, maybe I was a little bit unclear, I'm not impatiently awaiting a particular release, I think I know pretty well under what premises Teeworlds is developed.

However, after the release of 0.5.1 almost all activity ceased. That's pretty understandable too, the release works fine and the devs have lives (I hope!). However, that was some time ago and I am just curious about the relatively long absense of code changes in the repository (got spoiled there for a while!).

Yet, I'm very impressed by the contiued activity of the community.

khubajsn> I follow the progress of teeworlds not only because it's a cool game. I am a developer myself have for various reasons a strong interest in the game. Thanks for trying to explain never the less.

And ironically, I just noticed that Matricks started to poke around in trac recently. WB! smile

There is activity slowly starting up again, and I think there will be an official announcement quite soon.

Re: [QUESTION] What's up?

yup. Those were the changes I noticed.

What impress me the most is that this game has come so far being "just" a side project / hobby project. Trying to combine my own hobby projects with full time job and a family, I know just how many hours each day seem to lack. wink
