We can't do anything about it. Don't make it worse by linking to the page.
i meaned it good not bad!
and i dont have i bot when you think it some!
Bots are not supported, and wont be for a long time, if ever.
Aimbots will NEVER be supported. However, aimbots is mainly a problem for instagib, which is an mod, so it isn't supported by us.
what u will do if there will be bots in dm? huh?
My friend makes a Bot detector for his MOD so it cant be THAT hard for u devs to do that for whole tw
Do you think your friend will share this detector with us?
And how does it work? Just by the kills/shots rate or by the aiming itself?
It would be nice for my server
thank you
Hes still developing and its included into his fng MOD (and he doesnt want to share source).
I dont know how exactly it works, im gonna ask him.
I would just like to add that this is not exclusively an instagib problem, I've seen some bots on vanilla as well, mainly maps which include the laser rifle. One thing I really fear is the impact this will have one the community as a whole:
* new players will get a really negative impression
* oldtime players won't be able to enjoy the game as they're used to
* experienced players will be falsely accused
I think a good step would be to voice strongly against any attempts made to develop computer controlled bots, as the unprotected release of these will only increase the problem. People will have a hard time distinguishing between computer controlled and human bots.
The next step would then be to look into any practical countermeasures.
Security by obscurity is never a good way to solve a problem.
But as long as aimbots for vanilla isn't a problem there are far more important things to work on.
you can see bot everywhere now... also in best servers...
Just kick them if you are 100% sure they are cheating...
Why don't implement an anticheat client-side in 0.6.0?
Like this
Join the server => Download Anti.cheat => Download Maps => Download Sounds => download other => Run the anticheat => Start the game
There is no way to prevent cheating with aimbots. Again, this is not a problem in vanilla gametypes, and we wont do anything about it until we really think it's necessary. It's not just implementing an anti-cheat, it requires lots of bot testing and currently there is no good way of doing that. We don't wanna waste our time on unimportant/unsupported stuff as mods - Teeworlds changes all the time and mods will have to be rewritten to match the source code. They will change too much, simply.
Sry for my bad english btw xD
wouldnt it be possible to create a launcher file for TW - (released with Teeworlds - but not open source!) that checks itself and all necessery teworlds-files ... using a checksum implementet in ... some kind of way (translating this idea in english is already too much for me so don`t expect anything ) ...
if (there is an unmodified teeworlds cause checksum said ok)
then (i am sending that information to the server i am connecting to)
else (hm let me guess ... i am sending the information "modified teeworlds" ...)
end
and the server would maybe reakt like this ...
- Receiving information
- First: showing (maybe in score) a symbol telling everyone if the player uses a modified or unmodified teeworlds-client
- Second: maybe there suddenly appears a possibility (out of nowhere, of course xD) to setup the server with a cfg like:
1. ok - your client is modified ... *zzZZzzZZzzZZzz*
2. hm - same as bevore - but now i will shor a symbal near all playernames in the score showing if the client is modified or not
3. modified client? wtf? go and play elsewhere xD NO WAY IN
Maybe this could be useful if the TW ESL league would reopen in ten or 20 years ... maybe... whatever ... xD
btw. I never would code such a ... launcher (or so)... cause c++ is something - let me say i know its name and what it is used for ...
that means no bot testing ... no rewriting of the game ... it also could be a fan project so the TW developer can do ... what ever they do ... bla bla
Just wanted to share my thoughts with you - cause there has never been such a brilliant idea before ... shure ...
This wont work since the game is open source. How do you make sure that the client just doesn't skip that check (by modifying the source)?
Remember - the server is still open source, so the communication protocol would be easy to get knowledge of.
well that launcher file - or how that would me made - shouldnt be open source - but delivered with tw - (no kosts, etc.)
u are not forced to use this "tool" - tw will run without it - but - u CAN
and the server has the posibility to say: modified allowed or not
all the developers (or a modder) has to do is implementing code into the serversource so the server could:
- receive the launcherdata
- say modified clients allowed / not allowed here ... / i just show u are modifiered or not ... i do nothing about that
BUT
If this comes directly with TW all players will automatically know about it - AND - are not forced to download something else ... somewhere - if they would test TW cause no servers letting them play
CAUSE
if u are a client playing without this launcher and all servers available say "no modded TW in here" u cant play (no server would let u in).
if this launcher comes with TW all u need to play then is to start the other file xD
Server is open source - bad argument cause when the server is - compiled with this check modifikation - configurated and started, it doesnt matter if the server is open source or not
If this workes that could be a solve for all open source games out there if a serveradmin wants to reduce cheating on his server
But i think something like this exists in a game i dont know ... out there ... far far away ... xD
OF COURSE it matters that the server is open source. You can easily check what the server wants for an answer, and just make a fake program that sends it to the server. It's a really easy job.
hm your right
xD
Thought about it and
...
stupid idea xD
I was happy to waste your time
i think players using aimbots MUST be banned from tw.
i know some names and even have a demo.
just ban. the devs could do this?
Names don't say anything, anyone can change their name and the developers can't "ban" players on their name. Technically they could ban IP's from the master server but they won't do this. It would take too much extra trouble and do no good. The list would require continuous updating which would need too much maintenance to be plausible. People would easily be able to bypass it and therefor this would be no good solution at all.
Again, this is not a problem in vanilla gametypes, and we wont do anything about it until we really think it's necessary.
Well, I think it is a problem in vanilla gametypes. I often see players (also in wars against other clans in vanilla tw) with hookbot in defens..not aimbot.
Aimbot is useless on highlevel server in vanilla teeworlds..hookbot is
anticheat tools are too difficult to develop... the only thing we need is an identitysystem in teeworlds which is bound to the hardware. with such an identity we can ban this ppl out of our server and put them on a blacklist which every serverhoster can use.
this would be the easiest way to get rid of these cheater!
It's open source, baby
It is not impossible to write at least a protection heuristic protection
to log supposed botters to a file and record a demo so the admin
could review the demo and decide to ban him by IP range.
....
- receive the launcherdata
...
You mean almost 8 MB containing TeeWorlds source? Do you know how much time would it spend only uploading it, and then checking it?
