why dont you give defenders a code [i have no idea how hard this is]
to run towards the nearst laser and run back? and have them avoid rocket launchers because they suck with them?

And okay, a have a suggestion... all Zbot should be able to do both defending and capturing.
Why? Deepening on the score for the non-bot playing team of CTF, will be the measurement of how many def's and captures there are on the Zbot team.

Let's say if the non-bot playing team are getting and capturing and flag at a faster than normal rate, then depending on how many more points the non-bot playing team has, will be the measurements of how many defenders there are on the Zbot team. smile

For instance... if the non-bot playing team has 150 more points than the Zbot team, there will be a random choosing of one of the captures becoming a defender, to counterbalance the non-bot playing team, for there extra 150 points.
(This would not apply, if there are no Zbots getting the flag.) 

And after 10 minutes of the Zbot team not getting any captures, then one of the Zbot defenders should switch to capturing.
(This would not apply, if there are no Zbots defending the flag.) 

And lastly if there is only one Zbot player playing, it's main goal should be capturing the flag.
And should switch to kill at all cost if the non-bot tee has the flag. But if the Zbot is within 15 tee feet of getting the flag, then it's goal is to get the flag, and go to it's flag holding place, and wait for flag holder to come by and kill it.

And what I mean by "within 15 tee feet of getting the flag", it would not apply if there is a sold in the way.

Not a bad idea, i didn't think at a team strategy with Zbots and humans. You are right , for example if a ZBot is too slow than the other players (in instagib for example) he sould defend, or if the players are too bad (:P), Zbots must capture the flag for us. But if a player (ZBot or not) capture the flag, all ZBots will cover him, I explain :
they will kill the closest ennemy to the flag carrier, so if he is running to capture the flag, Zbots will kill all followers.

One question that came into mind, how do you want provide this as an offline alternative for online gameplay when people obviously can't connect to the master server without the internet and you also can't share the mod resources with them to create a LAN server because that would be against forum rules. Seems to me that's it therefor can't be used as a offline alternative.

This isn't really a problem, because the LAN servers already allow you to play even when there's no internet around. All you need to do is get some friends over so you can have a real human challenge.

Some good and bad news :

- ZBots can find their own path on all maps except ctf2 (dont ask me why ^^).
- But they dont succeed all the time well use their hook.
- Some players that i have choose have tested them and they are not stronger than all of them.
- They still cant pick weapon and others powerups but later they will smile.

Azon is true, so i will stop just a moment my Zbots develppement to do the Warfare mod.

Well, ZBots have really grown since last post and they are pretty much better.
They are not perfect, but good enough to decide me to put online a ZBot server (thanks Sushi as usual smile).

After several time testing your bots, I can tell you my opinion.

They are awesome!

But if you let us test it for saying bugs or for improving it here it goes some things I have seen:

- When a tee of the opposite team has the flag, they sometimes don't shoot his partners. Of course he must kill flag carrier first, but if the bot can't get him, then he should shoot his partners until he can shoot the flag carrier. (I don't know if I have spoken clearly wink ).

- They don't balance teams when neccesary. For example, when we were playing Lord, Nox, ArcA and me, both of you left and we were 4 vs 2 (and we won after all).

- It's possible to kick the bots. I don't know what happens if you kick them, but they appears in the kick list.

That's what I've seen. Of course the 1st and the 3rd things are stupid, but the 2nd one would be interesting to fix, I think.

Once again, good work!

EDIT: I forgot to say other thing: When a game finishes they don't say "Good Game" they say "Bot.say("Good Game")" or something simmilar. Is that a development mistake maybe? wink

1. It is a know bug will certainly fix that soon.
2. I will perhaps do a balance system for zbots in the future but not soon.
3. Try to kick them you will see what happens ^^.

Actuallly, ZBots are basicly a team, which you cw against, that's why they don't balance by themselves.

That is the result... there is no game... but they are all good hookers...
I have only 1 thing to say... they don't try to kill the flagger but they prefer another enemy in their "range". Need a improve in attack skill too... they have not a good speed.

Indeed it is easy to win because you win exploiting their bugs, like their lack of speed for example.
As i said, they are not perfect and thats why i openned this server.
