Topic: Slow and laggy on Ubuntu 8.10?

I'm currently running Teeworlds 0.5.1 on Ubuntu 8.10 64bit but for some reason the mouse is slow and laggy while using the game and more often than not the cursor gets stuck in the top left hand corner and all I can do is use the keyboard to xkill the game...

My graphics card is an Nvidia 9600gt and I'm using the latest available drivers through the Ubuntu repository which are Version 180 I've also tried switching between compiz and metacity but it doesn't make a difference

Re: Slow and laggy on Ubuntu 8.10?

Just Installed the latest Nvidia beta drivers (185.17?) but it's still slow and sluggish although I've sorted the mouse in the left hand corner crash by lowering the resolution...

I can not know, but I have seen it in other topics from ubuntu users:
Try to disable the screensaver? I hope it will help, if no, then.. sorry smile

Just tried a minute ago but it hasn't made a difference =/ I've had this problem once before and somehow it sorted it's self out when I installed the then beta drivers (now the stable ones) from he Nvidia website

It's really is like dragging the cursor through water...

Re: Slow and laggy on Ubuntu 8.10?

Ok, first disable Vsync and FSAA samples in the Teeworlds graphical settings.

Disable Compiz altogether (use Metacity).

Launch Teeworlds with this command:

SDL_VIDEO_X11_DGAMOUSE=0 ./teeworlds

Let me know if you still experience problems after that.

Yep that fixes the problem although the mouse still feels different to when I played the game on vista... it's like when I'm using the hook it doesn't feel accurate? and some times I end up hooking the floor...

Thanks for the help =]

PS: Is there anyway that I can incorporate the command "SDL_VIDEO_X11_DGAMOUSE=0 teeworlds" into a desktop Icon?

Re: Slow and laggy on Ubuntu 8.10?

Try to edit the mouse sensivity in the settings -> controls
It maybe caused by the lags too
