Topic: New game modes

I have some sugestions for new game modes.
1. Captains
Kinda like tdm. Each team should have a captain, chosen randomly. When the captain should be killed the oponent team should score 1. After the captain dies, a random captain should be chosen.
2. Detonation
Each team should have a bomb in its base and a disk should be spawned randomly on the map. When a team gets the disk to the rival team's bomb, it should score 100 points and kill all team's members. Each team should score 1 for killing the disk carrier.
3. Survival
The team should have to survive. Its members should not respawn. The rival team should have to hunt all the enemy members. If the team survives, it should get 100 points, else  the rival team should get 100 points.

Devs don't like random gameplay elements, so 1 & 2 will never be.

I think most of these modes would add very little to TW game-play, most of the features in them are already in other existing modes. For instance having to find and retrieve an object is already in CTF.

But the object should apear randomly on map.

Random => Bad.

I don't like "random" things.
Btw, I don't know if this was your idea, but I've got an idea for a new, fun gamemode.
In the middle of the map is a "cart" and this cart is only moving if a tee is in it's area. The cart has to reach one of the bases.

Example:

RED BASE | CART | BLUE BASE

If now a red tee comes to the cart, the cart moves to the blue base.

RED BASE | R. TEE => CART | BLUE BASE

If there is 1 red tee and 2 blue tee's, the cart moves to the red base

RED BASE | R. TEE CART <== 2x. B. Tee | BLUE BASE

#2 would be cool if the 'disk' was just spawned in the middle instead of randomly. it would be like a crazy rugby game. the action would be centered on this one little point. it may be chaotic, but it's worth a try.

What is the abhorition to random game elements? I mean, isn't the point of game types such that you can have many different types to satisfy the desires of anyone who comes along? I might be missing something but the arguments to not allow introductions of new game types seems... a little... juvenile to say the least. I mean, its not like you're replacing CTF or DM right? Its just new twists on the game. CFT and DM can get old quite fast, and its nothing specific about the game types, it just the fact that there are only two.

On a slightly different topic, those game types sound a lot like Halo 2/3 game types tongue

(Nothing wrong with that of course!)

How about spawning the disk on 1 of 5 places? Like a tee respawns after dieing?

Of course I do. I especially like Scout, Engineer, Spy and Pyro.
