Topic: [windows] 0.5 is very laggy

0.4 was much much better. in 0.5 was network "fixes", but it is worse only. very often game "flickers" like it has lags. also "teleports" happen. 0.4 is free of those things.

0.5 has many new functions but it is a pity that it is really unplayable.

0.5.0 contains some nasty shit and 0.5.1 should be much better. Join a laggy server, press CTRL+SHIFT+D and then CTRL+SHIFT+G.. wait 30 seconds and then take a screenshot and post it here.

ctrl+shift+d = Debug on/off
ctrl+shift+g = dbg_graphs on/off

here it is. first is taken on serv with 180ms of ping. the second was taken on serv with about 60ms of ping.

The network is behaving really well on those pictures. And you say that you experience teleporting?

@marines: look your fps... its going up and down all the time... try to enable vsync... maybe its better with constant fps wink

i've enabled v-sync but there is no result. i still have teleports. i've cached those moments on 3rd and 4th screenshot. look at graphs.

Last two pictures are a very unstable connection, those two above is the result of a ping spike, the spike detection does not however kick in as it should and it tries to compensate for it leading to some jerkyness. I could expose some of the tweakable network options but those are really just for if you know what you are doing. But there is some more tweaking that could be done to catch cases like that.

so perhaps at least undocumented config file entries? wink i like experimenting.

Make sure you only join 0.5.1 servers. Sadly you can't use the filter for that. You have to check every server using the Info tab.

o.5.1 improved the lag problemation a lot! At least for me. But still I do have problems with lag spikes
