Topic: (SOLVED) jiggly/juddering screen in 0.5.0 :-(

first of all: THANKS A LOT!!! Great new features, great work.
I have 3 things though:

1.: The sound of the hook (grabber) has changed, and I find it annoying... well, my oppinion ;-)

2.: And this is the real issue: The screen seems to judder or to be bucking. This happens while in fast movements, and it is not the movement or the whole screen but the background and stuff. And this really is giving me headaches (seriously!).

3.: Ping-Times seem way worse than before. before I had around 33, now the best server can give me 46 :-(

I am playing on an Apple MBP, MacOSX Leopard, 10.5.6, and 0.4.3 and before worked fine :-)

EDIT: I just booted into Windows XP to see, if it is the same way there: Nope, in Windows it is fine, so something definitly goes wrong and is not as it should be :-(

Please don't crosspost. I just answered this in the news thread.

The background stuff is not specific to macos imho, because i have similar 'effects' on my linux box, which I believe is caused by the driver i'm using for my ati card. It's the open-source driver, and in its documentation its clearly stated that its missing some features, 3d accel for example, and whatnot.

Re: (SOLVED) jiggly/juddering screen in 0.5.0 :-(

I will stick to this thread now, since some people already reported the same bug here and since this is the "normal" Bugs-Area...

If I am able to help with anything... like compiling stuff, trying patches, sending logs and so on, you name it! I am quite experienced with compiling stuff hence I come from Gentoo-Linux... ;-) And I find this game so amazing, that I am willing to help!

Thanks for all your work :-)

Here are screenshots of how the issue looks from my point of view. ( gfx_clear 1 is set, if not the maps behave like they have no background )

Try to enable gfx_noclip

Used to be very active waay back

Re: (SOLVED) jiggly/juddering screen in 0.5.0 :-(

@torch: That is not the issue I described above. For me, everything is fine, at least when I stand still. Backgroundanimations, everything. But when I move, the background animation is bucking.

You know, the background is moving in perspective to the tee-movement, and when that movement is not correct, the whole perspective seems to be odd, and that is weird and giving me headaches ;-)

By the way, the issue also appears using a Mac Mini with the GMA 950

Re: (SOLVED) jiggly/juddering screen in 0.5.0 :-(

@Viper: so it does not seem to be a driver- or graphic-card-related problem? At least not specificly...
