Re: [MAP] run_swingin

Needs more checkpoints IMO, 90% of the people cant even do the first part, and the one and only checkpoint is in the middle ^^

Edit: Actually now after playing for awhile I can do it in less than 50 sec, checkpoints are just fine.

Re: [MAP] run_swingin

This is the race that I haven't managed to finish yet. The last part is very difficult for me, but not impossible. Otherwise it's a very nice and original map. Well done!

Edit: OK, it's not really hard after all. tongue

Re: [MAP] run_swingin

i'm not sure if you got it: It would be nice to see some thanx or credits, that I made the death tileset or ubuntu/rajh/scosu

If i see one more run_XXX - map (which originally is Ubuntu's idea anyways,no credits for him though..) i most likely will run amok soon...

I just can't understand why some people here have issues with other people liking other things than themselves like.

Some of you are going a bit too far with your desire for getting mentioned every time possible.

1. Whom do you mean? Mr. some is too vague.
2. Giving credits for artwork is like quoting @ textes. You use other people's ideas/works and therefore you mark them, that you did not produce it. It was a guesture of friendship in the earlier days and has now a touch of legal reasons. I published my tileset under creative commons that I want to be named and specified the use of the graphic. If he does not do that, it's illegal. If you spent dozens of hours for creating that graphic and you don't even get some credits it's unfair. If you don't want to give credits, simply do not use tilesets of others. It's this copycat mentality I really dislike.

Exactly what I mean by going too far. Why go further than the gesture of friendship? I would understand you going around "enforcing" your copyright if people were explicitly saying they made the spear tileset. Yes it would be fair to mention you for the work you've done but frankly to me it seems you care more about your name getting mentioned than the fact that people like and use your work.
Actually naming your Lost modification after yourself was just ridiculous. Sorry for derailing the thread.

Re: [MAP] run_swingin

Landil, if you are referring to me, I posted the map on behalf of someone else. As you have pointed out this issue to me now, I will edit the original post to reflect the fact that you designed the kill-tiles.

Let me say that there is no need to be so defensive about it. It wasn't left out intentionally, nor with the intent of claiming credit OR aiming disrespect towards your good self. Apologies for the oversight.

Re: [MAP] run_swingin

Why do I want to get mentioned? There are several reasons.
1. It's my work; I spent a lot of time for creating those gfx. E.g. Lost_landil took nearly 30-40 working hrs. from concept to release; the maya tileset is much more. So the least I want is (what every artist wants), that this work is related to me that e.g. ppl can give feedback, when they see me online.
As you can see there are a lot of map names named by their author, so it's nothing unusual. Chi11y did it, Somerunce did it, too, Captain AMN did it, the [GSG]clan has several maps named [GSG]... and the cheaters clan has its cheaters map. And I named it lost_landil -  as I think this is better than putting a gfx ingame with my name, as a lot map creators do. But it looks like people want it that way.

2. People do not like if others take their work and do not say it. You can see a lot of threads here (and I am sure you read them) where some kiddies take parts of other's work and don't say that that's not completely their work. People (and not only me) are fed up with this. No one likes it. It's a matter of fairness.

3. Quoting was and is a kind of reputation showing and gaining. If you quote so. you appreciate/value so.'s work. If you do not do it you are patronising the work and disrespect the author.

As I dislike the copycat mentality of the young generation I want to show them, that it's important to give credits. When they later go to university they'll see that its a intercultural standard to give credits and quote(except some Asian cultures).

back to topic:
The map is nice but quite tough. I need some practice to beat it.
