Topic: Position tiles / moving obstacles / quad collision etc.

Moving tiles...wouldn´t that be great?

There are so many possibilities like elevators, vehicles, moving obstacles...just everything!

How it´s done?

I have 2 suggestions:

1. Create new layer in envelopes to make tiles moving.

2. Possibility to make quad collision so you can step on moving quads.

What do you think?

I think it'd require extreme changes to the engine, without any real gameplay gain. Not worth it really.

Slopes should be higher on the list of those types of things to do.

Ok it was just a suggestion. Never mind.

Even though this might be a bit of a problem, I think that it's good that you think about every aspect that could make this game better, and even better that you port your ideas here. smile Chi11y's just short by nature, I'm sure he too appreciates all of your suggestions, deep deep down.

The proposition "I am the center" need never be uttered. It is the assumption upon which all certainty and all doubt turns.

Moving tiles could be extremely cool. Imagine, for example, a ctf map where the flag is sealed behind  a vault door that ou have to pull a lever somewhere to open or close it. The defending team would of course be guarding both the lever and the door smile.

Though I agree that slopes should have higher priority.

Of course as long as the game is under construct there are more important things to fix.

But later on it may be cool, think of games like Super Mario. It is 2D, there are enemies and things to pick up. The only thing missing are such moving abstacles smile

Scriptable levels might come at some point but not yet. There might also be possible to add some free form physics layer, later.

Languages shapes the way we think, or don't.

I thought about this, and blockable/hookable quads would be a fair start, wouldn't they?

However we'd need a system to keep the quad animations in sync... which is not today.
