Topic: Translater

Ok, we need a translator of some form in Teeworlds, plain and simple. I am surprised there is not already one with the diverse people that play Teeworlds, from German to Spanish and English. I think it would be better to have a server side translator instead of a client side, as the developers would have to release a new client for this, but they would just have to patch the existing server source. It would be great if you could see the original message, and the message in translated form.

Re: Translater

No! Sound like tons of job to do for something that isn't going to work that great. Googles translators etc work okey at best and that is with input that is spelled and grammatically correct, two things online players doesn't do that good.

Re: Translater

Maybe devs don't have to do it, maybe some people in the community can do it? I would be happy to help where I can.

Re: Translater

Maybe players should find a language that everyone understand (more or less).

Say all players on a server are Germans, then the natural language to speak is German. When then someone new connects it's good manners to use English until the new players origin have been established (and ofc continue with English in case the new player don't understand German).

Except for example the server is called "german server", than if somebody who doesn't understand it joins it, its his fault not the other players.

Re: Translater

Hmm, maybe add a "Joiner Location" feature like in this 3D FPS game I play.

Admittedly, Esperanto might be more fair.

Re: Translater

The problem with those is that they are weird forms of English.
