Topic: I have a server, but no one seems to be able to connect to it.

Hello.

Recently - actually about 60 minutes ago - I found out that I was able to connect to my friend's LAN server. That alone obviously surprises me as we live a couple hundreds of kilometers apart. But what even more surprises me is that he cannot connect to mine. They are both race LAN servers with a port of 8303.

The servers have the following settings:

sv_powerups 0
sv_teleport 1
sv_maprotation
sv_strip 0
sv_regen 0
sv_pickup_respawn 0
sv_rocket_jump_damage 0
sv_scorelimit 0
sv_inactive_kick 0
sv_infinite_ammo 1
sv_gametype race
sv_name Testserver
sv_port 8303
sv_map run_Vice
sv_max_clients 2
sv_register 1
sv_rcon_password 1
sv_teambalance_time 0
tune player_hooking 0
tune player_collision 0
sv_delete_grenades_after_death 0
tune gravity 0.5
tune_reset
password

The settings are completely identical on both servers, though the votes differ.
The files for the server that I and him use can be found here.
I would really like some explanation and advice on how he and other people could see the server as well.

Thanks and have a great day,

TheDerero

Move along, nothing to see here, really.

You need to open the ports (8303) on your router for your friend to be able to connect to your server.

Not Luck, Just Magic.

It's not a LAN server. Because servers by default register to master server. If you want to run a local only server put this in your server configuration.

sv_register 0

See server settings.

But... what if we tried more power?
