Hey guys, Icy here!
It's my honor to present you this fresh new mod, which will bring you hours and hours of fun! I guarantee.
Few of us have been testing it out and we've played it over 2 hours! Try it out for yourself and you'll see.

But before that, make sure you understand at least the basic rules, so you won't end up confused.
They are quite simple, so just scroll down and look them up in 3 small pictures. ^^

~MOD CONFIGURATION~
sv_gamemode [def:0]
0 = KTF - all weapons and entities are allowed
1 = iKTF - Laser
2 = iKTF - Grenade

Weapon tunings:
sv_explosive_laser [def:0] = Add explosions to player shots with the laser gun.
sv_grenade_dmg [def:4] = Damage required to kill with the grenade launcher.

sv_sudden_death_win [def:10] = There has to be 10 point difference in order to win.
sv_flag_kill_flag_sound [def:1] = If on, ninja sound plays globally if one flagman kills another flagman.

Player scores:
sv_kill_score [def:1] = Score for a kill.
sv_flagkill_score [def:2] = Score for a kill with the flag.
sv_kill_flagman_score [def:2] = Score for killing a flagman. Stacks with sv_flagkill_score.

sv_collect_score [def:1] = Score for collecting the flag.
sv_retrieve_score [def:1] = Score for retrieving the flag.
sv_suicide_penalty [def:0] = Score penalty for suiciding.

Team scores:
sv_kill_teamscore [def:1] = Team score for a kill.
sv_flagkill_teamscore [def:10] = Team score for a kill with the flag.
sv_kill_flagman_teamscore [def:5] = Team score for killing a flagman. Stacks with sv_flagkill_teamscore.

sv_collect_teamscore [def:5] = Team score for collecting the flag.
sv_retrieve_teamscore [def:5] = Team score for retrieving the flag.
sv_suicide_teampenalty [def:0] = Team score penalty for suiciding.

Yeah, the idea of holding the flag with the timer came on my mind first, but then I thought there would be a lot of camping and running, so I took it the other direction.
The one who holds the flag is representing a team, he has to be aggressive. ^^

Well, I really hoped there would be more attention to this.
You think it would be really hard to make this mod? I don't mod so I can't tell...

That camping is really annoying. Doing it this way would prevent it.
If you can't find someone i may recode it this way when 0.7 is out wink

I just coded a bit and my result is this (mirror). I hope it is good smile . Since I am inexperienced in coding there are probably some bugs. Also it is not tested very often so feel free to pm me.

Thank you very much for your work and effort, I really value that!

Anyway,
Soon I will do some immersive research, but now from my early tests I would suggest you adding some avaliable commands to the server config file. If possible, then atleast for these 4 things:
(both team score/personal score)
- killing a persong without a flag
- killing a persong with the flag
- picking up the flag
- retrieving the flag

Other than that, amazing work!

Also I'm thinking, maybe we should call this mod something else as there already is a mod called HTF (Hold the Flag).
I was thinking of something like FSN (Flag Snipe/ing/er). I don't really know.. Try to think of something that would represent this mod, if you can guys..

The mod is very fun, I really like it, but it need more recognition - because so far, I haven't played with more than 4 people at once. Also, I can't host perma server right now (which kinda sucks, because I would love to)...

Anyway, I'm trying hard to figure out a name for this mod so if you could suggest anything, that would represent the mod I would appreciate that.

You could make it something similar and simple like just Keep the Flag, KtF.

Well, it's about holding that flag, that's true - but it's also about killing with that flag.
It makes the person that holds the flag the most important person in the team. So I would use the word "leader" in the name or something similar to it..

But yeah, I want to keep the name simple as DM or CTF is...

So we will use the name KTF - Keep the Flag - from now on, as that's pretty much the point of the mod. Keeping the flag for as long as possible. Thanks for your help Broken.

Teamscores:
sv_kill_teamscore: Score the teams get for each kill (def.: 1)
sv_capture_teamscore: Score the teams get for each flag capture (def.: 50)
sv_suicide_teampenalty: Score the teams lose for suicide (def.:0)
sv_collect_teamscore: Score the teams get for collecting the enemies flag (def.: 5)
sv_retrieve_teamscore: Score the teams get for retrieving their flag (def.: 5)
sv_flagkill_teamscore: Score the teams get if their flagman kills an enemy (def.: 10)

Alright my dear HMH, it's almost ready, but there are still few more things to change.

First, could you please make 2 separate mods, not just a single one?
- KTF (please, not KtF but KTF - same as CTF)
- iKTF (with lasers or grenades only, add command like sv_weapontype (or sv_weapon) to change the weapon without needing to restart that match, so players can choose from these two)

About those commands, they're mostly fine, but few of them just doesn't fit to the mod.

Please remove:
- sv_capture (it's not meant to capture a flag in this mod, if this command would be allowed, it wouldn't be KTF anymore)
- sv_capture_teamscore and sv_capture_score
- sv_suicide_teampenalty (this command has to go, because it could be very much abused - although I have no problem with the sv_suicide_penalty)

These two can stay so players can tune the weapons:
sv_grenade_dmg
sv_explosive_laser

And lastly, please make it so when a flag falls into abyss doesn't give any team score.

That's probably all, thank you very much for helping with this mod, I appreciate every single bit of your effort. ^^
I will surely make at least one new map exclusively for this mod. It's so much fun that it'll be worth it.

Why two separate mods, the gametype is already shown as KTF or iKTF so the players can choose yikes ?

I think before we remove the possibility to capture the flag completely we should play some more matches to test if it is balanced without.

In my opinion the teampenaltyconfiguration should stay since in tdm the teams lose score on suicide too.

It is great to read about a new instagib mode! Good idea to modify the flag gametype once more.
And even better one kind person already worked on the code, I really appreciate your efforts and want to express my gratitude smile
Creating a good documentation is another task, thank you for adding all the details.

But why do you want to remove certain commands, IcyPRO? Of course I understand you do not want it to become one universal mod with several gametypes, however providing the option to choose between different options (default gametypes and additional commands for further alterations) is the better way to make it a common server modification. Anybody could just exchange the default CTF server package with this one, adding some vote options and has a versatile server up and running.
So in my opinion these options do no harm, just making a proper default setting is mandatory.

Second, we're working on the commands, we discuss it and we're trying to make it balanced and established so it can become a serious mod, not just any random mod with chaotic configuration and gameplay that is not thought through...

About the commands, I don't want to remove all commands, I want the mod to be free to adjusting, but again, I don't want any commands there, which would make the mod broken or unbalanced. For example weapons - if you ever payed instagib you know very well taht it's not palyable with shotgun or pistol for example...

Either way, I'm not here to be a fun killer, just want to make this mod as clean and balanced as possible. That's all tongue

Though I think some commands are there to finetune the mod, allow different possibilities as well, and this requires a reasonable admininstrator, thats for sure. Not every single option should be available via vote, but if this should ever become played regularly...
Having "weird" vote options can be fun when you stick longer at the same mod and want to adjust some things smile It is like iCTF (which is the reason why I played teeworlds for such a long time) when laserjumps on/off is available - you dont use it, never, but sometimes its the best way to go.
A mod should be self contained, yet a few switches for a change are welcome.

I have only one complaint, the laser explosions make sounds. This is highly irregular and irritating if it could be fixed. tongue
