Topic: Query the masterservers to get banlist

Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible to query the mastervers to get the list of the banned servers. I don't think it's yet possible for what I could see in the code, but perhaps I didn't check out in the correct files, didn't find any requests in teeworlds/src/mastersrv/mastersrv.h that would fit my need. I saw some urls which were supposed to give direct access to the ban list, yet they weren't effective. Could someone give me a hint about how possible it is to get this information?

Sorry if you had troubles, but well I'm not talking about communications about who is banned and why, it's not the place. I think I read something about putting your email in the sv_motd, so the staff would contact you to tell you about the ban.

Yet I think an automated action could be done. A database with all the bans, reasons, ip, email, and this thing would be accessible to everyone on ban.teeworlds.com for example. An email would be sent to the owner of the server if an email is found in the sv_motd. Just an improvement idea.

Well I don't have any problems with bans, I'm just searching a technical answer about how to get this list. Please stick to the topic smile

I believe there's an automated banned servers list page somewhere on the site. Can anyone confirm?

Edit: A bit too late. That automated thing already exists iirc.

Thanks, I had found this website too, but yup it doesn't work. I believe there was an other website I found about kottizen, but it wasn't working either.

@Dune: Do you mean on the irc? (sorry maybe you made a typo writting "iirc"). If that is the case, I believe that a dedicated page on teeworlds.com would be better, you get the info fast and without doing anything but surfing smile

As i remember, Kottnet just takes master-bans-list by HTTP, parses and prints. So it's available by http, ask m!nus or heinrich5991. I knew this URL, but I forgot it, sry

Thanks Shahan, well I'd prefer to query directly the masterserver if possible, unless I can get xml/json with the HTTP call, but even some html code would be better than nothing tongue
If this URL exists, it should be something more easy to find, I think smile

The ban list currently resides at https://mnus.de/tmp/master-bans.cfg
This is subject to change though. I would really like to have it better integrated.

Thanks a lot m!nus, wouldn't it be better to be hosted on teeworlds? Something like bans.teeworlds.com? Could you add the URL in your news message about the bans, I think many users would enjoy to see if they are banned. I guess that you have some bash script running which creates you the file. Would it make sense to ask the devs to add a new requests to get the ban list (it would be then easy to integrate it on teeworlds)?
