Topic: 1000 ms spikes?

Sometimes my ping would raise up to 1000, making me unable to play. The duration ranges from 3 to about 10 seconds. There are no second computers running anything, yet it happens anyway sad

Suggestions?

Do you run WLAN? Also check your CPU usage.

Nope, and the cpu usage is constantly low

Sounds like a spontaneous antivirus software update or so, did you check this activity too?
Don't know if you are using windows and if you are experienced with embed task manager, but I would recommend you another tool Sysinternals Process Explorer. This has a nice graph to show cpu, file, disk and network utilisation.
