You don't want life mutes, just like you don't want life bans. Better use a semi-long period instead (a day, a week).

Sorry, but I would love them  either. There are enough very very very very annoying kids outta here i would love to never need to mute again!

Meh, I believe people tend to change after having been banned for a week, week mutes might do a similar thing once introduced, since you get when nobody listens to you anymore. smile

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

I don't believe anyone has suggested this yet, so my suggestion is to have a remake of grass_main or have an alternative with "long grass", kind of like the grass in a Mario game. smile I like the idea but what does the communitee think?

Here are some examples with a tile-set I made fairly quickly:

[>>tile-set<<]
The tile-set isn't perfect but feel free to use it.

[>>map I used<<]
Download for in game look around.

What about making some mods vanillia? For example race or Insta. They are nice, many players play teeworlds just becouse of mods. I think playing vanillia all the time is quite boring, so I change gametypes very often smile

On a scale from 1 to 10, rate your offtopic level.

They still have the possibility to play mods.
I don't see any advantage in making those official since it works fine right now.

Dune, It's not ot, since the topic is "Ideas for the next version". I just gave an Idea.

Botox, There are some advantages, for example official support for those mods would be nice... Anyway, you are right, It is okay how it is, and it will probably stay same. It was just an idea, nothing concrete.

Ups, saw it on the wrong thread. Sorry.

To your suggestion, this has already been discussed so many times, instagib: nope, race: they wanted to make something clean and good and decided TeeRace would always be better anyway (afaik).

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

@ Dune: Do you think it's possible someone could take up the responsibility of updating the beginning list that Azon created of what will or will not be implemented into coming versions? I would do it but I don't have that kind of power.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

Implement an IRC client into the game. Add a "Chat" tab to the game and make it join #teeworlds. People can arrange joining a server together. It can be a lot useful. and also with /msg you can message your friends, outside of any server.

But... what if we tried more power?

It's already been (somehow partially and weirdly) done in another client, and I tried to code this on Teeworlds.
Fact is, it was really messy to use IRC libs with Teeworlds, I kept having random unexpected bugs I couldn't solve, so I abandoned the project.

If anyone wanna go into that, I can only recommend that, it would be awesome to have, at least, an IRC engine - the UI and chat commands can easily be implemented later.

I worked very time with IRC (my first experience with programation was with mIRC Scripting xDD ~A client for connect to irc networks~).... I go to try create this feature for H-Client... updates very soon wink

Try to write the code on separate .cpp files so it can be merged without too much effort.
Good luck!

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

This thread simply requires a "weekly" conference to decide about the future of teeworlds.
As it is a open source project, i dont feel any one (should) have the power to decide about this list.

I don't think Azon took any real decisions when writing this list, he only made it clear for what was already suggested and was had already been accepted/rejected by other competent devs.

I personaly think that everyone should be able to help. Coding, creating graphics, etc.

There won't be any cheat protection in 0.7. That kind of discussion appears at every single release. The non updated bots will go down, that's it.

Re: [SUGGESTION] Ideas for the next version

I'd like a renewing of CTF and TDM scoring and or sever rules/sever settings, particularly TDM because it really needs help. I haven't seen anyone play it recently and I wouldn't even be able to guess the last time I played it either.
I've asked some of my Teeworlds friends what they thought the problem was with TDM and I got two difference kind of answers...

1) It lacked uniqueness over DM and CTF
2) The sever settings, or the rules themselves, are not adequately defined

If I had to think about it, I'd say they are right. I know that commonly CTF sever's have a score limit of 500-1,000 and a time limit of 30-60 mins and DM a score limit of 10-30 and time limit of 10-45 mins but I haven't a clue for TDM.
I know that like with CTF, there's a difference between a player's score and the team's score and that each player directly effects the overall team score. For instance, each kill in TDM goes for one player and team point but I don't know how many points commonly each player needs to attain for their team to win.

I wanted to test this so I just now went to all the sever's hosting non-modified versions of TDM and took a survey:

Score limits ranged from 10 to 50, with an exception of one with 400 which clearly was a mistake. Player slots ranged from 8 to 16. As for time limits, seven had none and those that did ranged from 5 mins to 30, with an exception of 600.

Now, to better put things into perspective, to show that there isn't an unified idea as to the sever settings of TDM, I looked to compare 15 sever's player slot limit with its score limit. Because it is a team game, I divided the score limit by the players each team would have based on the sever's player limit. Assuming a full sever, these are the points/kills each player would have to make in order for the their team to win:

5 severs needed 2.5 (points)
3 needed 5
2 needed 3.75
2 needed 6.25
1 needed 12.5
1 needed 250 (this person must have been crazy)
and 1 needed 3

I'm not sure if TDM needs new scoring or common sever rules but I'd like to see it popular in the vanilla community. smile If I had to make a suggestion to make TDM unique, it would be to revise the game as a whole. I thought about it and took some ideas from the survivor mod. Say each player starts with 5 spawn lives at the beginning. If a player dies 5 times, losing all their spawn lives, they automatically go to spectate until the round is over; however, if a teammate can finish off and spectate 2 enemy players in a row without him dying, he is able to rescue 1 teammate of his choice (game would likely have to be paused so the player doesn't die while he chooses) or perhaps a teammate could be automatically chosen based on their score. This rescued teammate would be given 3 spawn lives before reentering.

This can create more of a team spirit because while any player can kill another player, the best advantage to the team as a whole is to let one or a few particular players get that last kill that sends an enemy into spectators. This also means some players could act as the guard for these special players.
Perhaps as a quirk, for every enemy a teammate kills without their own death, he get's an additional point for each kill afterwards. So after one kill without death, the next kill he gets two points and then three for the next and so on until his death, which returns killing points to one.

Now for CTF... I love the gametype, really. I just think a few things could be changed in the scoring. Like, killing a flag carrier should be 2 or 3 points to the player. 3 points to the player and 5 to the team for taking the flag from the flag stand. 2 to the player for returning the flag. 8 to the player for capturing the flag. And -2 to the player for killing a teammate.

Thoughts?
