Topic: wish: wrapping maps.

Can I post dev wishes here?

I'd wish for the possibilities of wrapping maps. That is if you are on one end of the map (sideways or up/down), the map wraps around to the other end... I understand this needs a bit more coding logic, since the user should not be able to notice the wrapping edge, that is shoot, claw etc. over the map edge like it would be normal space...

Has been discussed but not likly to get into the game.

Re: wish: wrapping maps.

I can understand this would mean a lot of development effort, for a small effect. Boiling down to situations where the game screen is larger than the map, so some things would be visible even twice on screen.

I recently had the idea to "port" (i.e. redraw) some xpilot maps, to be able to replay them with tees. Wrapping was a core functionally of xpilot, so most maps were created wrapable there...

I guess I can do with lines of transportspots on the edges to the otherside as acceptable workaround.

Re: wish: wrapping maps.

Wrapping maps could be a lot of fun...

If it is never to be done, then some sort of teleporting would be cool...

Cheers

Well I was speaking about that teleport mod.

If I could wish for official support, I much rather have portals instead of teleporters. That is an special teleporting wall, that preserves your momentum when jumping through as well as allowing you shooting through it. Just like:

A representation of how speed and momentum magnitude are conserved through portals. By jumping into the lower portal, the character is launched out of the upper portal and onto the platform on the right.
