Topic: [Map] [CTF/TDM] My first map - The Butterfly!

This is my first actual good map that I named The Butterfly-because if you look at it from the map editor it looks like a butterfly smile.

There are two ninja swords at the bottom, but if you host your server with this map feel free to replace them with defense or hearts.

Here is the download link: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/32877967/BUTTERFLY%21.map

NOTE: Although this map is supposed to be a ctf map, it would also work well as a tdm map.

Feedback much appreciated!

I like the creativity and I think your butterfly design is clever, however there are some tips I suggest you consider.

1. Basically do not use unhookables like that. Use regular tiles and make them hookable. The map is unplayable as it is. No one will host your map unless you change this.

2. Remove spikes. Just do it, don't ask why.

3. Fix pickups everywhere. Have fewer of them, put more thought into where you want tees to have to move to get them. Consider the effects of where you place them on the overall gameplay.

4. Do not extend those middle hills down like they do and make sure you add some death tiles at the bottom. As it is now someone can just fall forever, in particular the flag runner.

5. This is purely a cosmetics issue but it would be nice if you fixed the graphics so that they look neater, perhaps take the time to figure out how to make a nice looking background.

Overall I've seen worse maps but perhaps put a little more time into it and have a look at the official maps for some general pointers. I wish you luck in your mapping endeavors.

It's a nice fun beginner's map, but I think the narrow area of 1-2 tiles wide is too easy to defend/camp.

I agree, I thought It was a DDRace or a FastCap map.
For a CTF, the maps is not playable.
